A Child Turned Into A Soldier

Chapter 13: A Mother And Her Child

Chapter 13: A Mother And Her Child

A week had passed quite quickly as I was hard at work trying to go back to my normal physical condition. I would be eating high calorie meals provided to me and the nurses watching over my training would tell me when I needed to rest.

Although I didn't like people watching and wasting their time on me, they had never once left my side or complained. All they were doing was their job which was something new to me.

After the week was up the same doctor I first met cleared me saying I could go home. He handed me a paper that had my address on it and told me goodbye.

I looked at the paper to see it was the same address as before, a mix of what seemed to be every emotion was responding to the events that were going to take place.

'I wonder what she will say after she sees, I have changed a lot over the past seven years.' I thought to myself considering I got kidnapped when I was 8 years old and haven't been back since now. 'She probably won't even be able to recognize me, especially with all these scars on my damn face.'

I then went inside the cab that was waiting for me and handed the man the address. We started to drive and I was left alone with my thoughts.

It was currently September, so the weather was still quite warm which I did not like. It wasn't nearly as hot as Maru which is a complete desert, that led to my heat tolerance going up a lot.

Finally, after 30 minutes of driving we arrived at my house, still looking the same as ever. I existed the car and took a look at house in front of me.

It was quite a large home being a total of 3 stories. The color being a light grey with a decently sized yard. The door was also quite elegant in its looks department, having golden lining which showed my mother's wealth.

I walked up the driveway with each step being as slow as the next, not really ready to face this problem.

Reaching the door, I took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell which resulted in a bell sound going through the entire house. After a couple of seconds, a woman who was the same as I remembered opened the door.

She was only an inch taller than me, but that didn't matter as I just stared dead into her eyes without saying anything. I did not know what to say, so I left it up to her to lead this conversation.

....

POV: Isabella Diggory

"Mam, I am happy to tell you that your son has been found and recovered by the Volestian military." A man dressed in a Volestian military uniform told me almost causing me to have a heart attack.

Tears could be seen coming out of my eyes uncontrollably as this was the greatest news I've received in my entire life.

I had come to find out later in my life that I greatly mistreated my son, he was born when I was in a very depressed state. He had looked similar to the man I had decided to have a child with too much leading my anger to get the best of me.

I hadn't noticed this till it was too late; my son was already gone and I did not know if he was ever going to come back.

I never felt this amount of shame in my entire life, the cruel life I had growing up with my parents led me to do the same with my son creating a cycle of self-hatred.

I never gave him any love and only hate; I thought teaching him knowledge for school would at least lead him to a better life, but I couldn't even do that properly.

As a mother I am completely useless, before I was on my high horse about being able to overcome my challenges and becoming self-made. I too had a hard life, but through hard work I was able to stand up for myself not having to rely on anybody.

Yet now I am only a failed mother, that is all I see myself as. No matter what I have accomplished in life or do in the future I will always see myself as that.

When I found out my son was alive, I was the happiest as I could be. Knowing this in formation I had hoped to be given a second chance by him, so that I could make up for my wrong doings.

The military officer also informed me on what my child has been through which was yet another shellshock.

Finding out that my son had suffered so much only as a kid was mind shattering. The fact that one could even survive what he's been through is already insane, but dealing with yourself after that is yet another mountain.

I knew what I had to do. I would try my absolute best to help my son in any way possible. If I am ever needed to help, I will always be there for him no matter what.

Even if he wants to have the entire world go against him, I will join his side. I have caused him enough pain; I will show him how good this world can truly be and help him find his path.

I had often heard from mothers that their children are basically their own lifeline. I didn't understand them saying this until now, my son is basically my entire world now that I think about it.

When my doorbell rang, I already knew who it was going to be.

I walked to the door and slowly opened it to come face to face with my son. As I locked eyes with him, I couldn't help but notice all the scars on his face.

There were burn marked all over his neck and forehead, he had deep cuts around both eyes and his jaw line, he also had what seemed to be claw marks all over his cheeks.

Seeing this ripped apart my heart, I knew he lived an awful life there, but seeing this in person was a different story. Tears once again started to burst through my eyes as I didn't even say anything and decided to give my son a loving hug.

Although I didn't feel him hug me back this was more than enough.

'If there is a time Azrail that you never feel loved, just know that merely means your mother isn't amongst the living.' I thought this to myself as I began to cry profusely.
