Conqueror

Chapter 30

After they're done talking with Fendrel, they look for a goblin that can make them a house. At first, Carl planned to left the village today, and find their way home to the town.

But then, Sansa told him that she did not want to go back to town first. She was afraid... she was afraid to get bullied, getting discriminated. So she wants to stay here in the village first for some time, since the monsters, doesn't seem to care about her appearance.

Carl thought she was just being paranoid, but after thinking about it carefully, he eventually agreed. Sansa was traumatized by what had happened to her, also she was in distressed. So she wants to take this time here in the village to heal her. Moreover, Sansa was only twenty three years old, three years younger than him.

Aside from that, he was also interested in the village. He was shocked that a monster, can be this organized. Although he knows that there was a nation that was govern by the demihumans. But still, demihumans and monster were not the same, demihumans were consistent of humans and monster offsprings, and a monster with an intelligent comparable to humans. Just like the mermaids, elf, centaur, etc. But it doesn't mean, that humans like the demihumans. Well, some humans see them as slaves, and some see them as a curse being in the world, and see themselves as superiors. That's why the humans and demihumans, have a war going on for decades now. Although its only a skirmishes battle, and not really a full blown battle. Its still a battlefield that each side lost a good amount of soldiers every year. So the hate on each other, just keep on growing. Until it comes to a point, that they won't stop until ether one of them got destroyed.

Whereas the latter was just monsters in the humans eyes, they think of them as savages and barbarians. The were just like water and fire, they can't be put together because they hated each other. When the two meet, all they could think of was to kill one another. Even the demihumans also didn't have a favorable impression of the monsters, some goblins or orcs were giving the demihuman people some headache. They ether robbing, or looting their villagers and towns.

Carl thought Fendrel as a demihuman, but still, even as a demihuman, it would still be an arduous task to discipline this monsters. So he felt a kind of respect towards Fendrel. He was not one of those humans who hated demihumans, he was on a neutral side. Who saw demihumans, just like humans. A being who has the right to live in this land.

Carl opened the door of Sansa's room, they were in the house they rented last night. Although the price was still the same, Carl can do nothing, and can only give the one hundred gold coins, to the shrewd goblin.

Carl saw him on his window, looking up at the beautiful sparkling night sky.

"What is my princess thinking" Hearing it, Sansa's face became so red, as red as tomatoes.

She glared at Carl, but the latter only smiled at him mischievously. Sansa was now wearing the mask, given to him by Fendrel. "You really become bold, huh?."

"This is not being bold, my lady. It's called expressing my true feelings." Carl said.

"So you're telling me, that you fall in love with me. After I sacrifice myself to you" And this time Sansa was looking at him mischievously. She was teasing Carl.

Carl became depressed, he opened his mouth to say something, but he was cut by Sansa.

"I'm just joking... Hehe, you're too serious" Seeing Carl sighed in relief, but it still give him a bad aftertaste.

"So, what are you thinking?" Carl asked, changing the topic.

"Uhm... I'm just thinking, that this village is so peaceful." Sansa paused a bit, before continuing. "When we were walking in the village. I saw one orc and one goblin kid, smiling, playing with each like a normal child. I kept thinking, if we just misunderstood them.... They are not really born savages, but it's only because they didn't get the treatment the humans and demihumans get. And can only resort to robbing and killing other to live."

"Hmm... maybe" Carl reply uncertainty.

"You are really, still no sense to talk to, hehe" Sansa giggle.

"What did you say?" Carl looked at her, with a wolf like face. That make Sansa terrified,

"Don't come near me!!." She pick a pillow and throw it towards Carl. But Carl only smirked at her, that make him annoyed.

But suddenly the door slammed open, and interrupted their lovey-dovey. Bogish come inside carrying a paper with a gloomy look. He wants to scold Bogish for interrupting them, but upon seeing the gloomy look of Bogish, he became serious and asked what happened.

"Captain, Lask is gone, I think he left the village. I only saw a paper with a note in it, in our room." Bogish said.

"'Let me see the note" Bogish then give the note to Carl.

Upon reading the note, Carl face became even more gloomy. In the end he sighed helplessly.

"Carl, what did he say. Did he really leave the village?." Sansa asked worriedly.

"Yeah... He also said that he will leave the team." Carl said, with a heavy tone.

"Don't think about it too much, I think he left. Because he miss his family in the town, and left because he wanted to see them. Let's just pray that he can go back to the town safely." Sansa caressed the back of Carl to comfort him.

"I hope so..." Carl said Icily.

Fendrel who was sleeping peacefully, opened its eyes. A chilly cold wind brush against his body, from the now open window of his room.

"I apologize for disturbing your majesty's sleep... But I have a urgent report that needs your majesty's order" A thief soldier covered in cloack, report to Fendrel with its eri voice.

"What is it?" Fendrel had some vague idea, but he still need to confirm it.

"Your majesty, there is a one human that suddenly left the village. Sir black and the other are already trailing him, we only await your majesty's order." The thief soldier reported.

"Hmm..." A peculiar glint flashed in Fendrel's eyes. "Kill him" Fendrel said with an icy tone.

"As you wish your majesty" The soldier thief vanished, the window also began to close magically on his own.

Fendrel know that he can't let that human go, if he did let go the human, his village would be in danger. He can't trust that human, that it won't reveal the location of his village. His village was not strong enough to clash head on with any town. 'If I needs to be ruthless to protect my village, so be it. It's not like I am a good person to begin with.' Remembering those time, when his soldiers in the game. Swept over the city of his enemy, killing them mercilessly woman, child, elderly. For some unknown reason, his blood starting to boiled. Fendrel immediately stopped thinking about it, and go back to his sleep.
