Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 27: A Loser

"It's best if you don't. I hope you regret it." Mike said coldly. At the same time, he shook his right hand and drew a butterfly knife from his sleeve. He nimbly flicked the edge of the knife with his fingers and looked at Ellen maliciously, "What do you think of slashing your face with this thing?"

Alan looked at him coldly without saying a word. This silence made Mike feel humiliated. The other party's disdain made Mike feel as if his nerves were burning. His chest rose and fell sharply, and he spat out a mouthful of hot air. Before twisting his body, a knife slashed down on Allen's cheek. He wanted to tear this damn pretty face to shreds!

His bright red pupils dilated slightly. In Alan's eyes, Mike's movements slowed down, and he could even break down several scenes. He could clearly see the direction of the saber, and suddenly stretched out his hand, tightly gripping the butterfly saber like a pair of iron claws.

Mike was shocked and felt that the blade had stabbed into a crack in the rock and could not be pulled out for a moment. Although Allen's palm was drenched with blood from the sharp blade, the expression on his face was terrifyingly calm. He stretched out his other hand and his arm around Mike's saber trembled. Under the influence of the Origin Energy, this vibration moved up his arm and eventually dislocated Mike's hand.

Mike could no longer hold the butterfly knife and looked at Alan in surprise. His fist swept across his face, causing the world to turn upside down. He spun around in mid-air before falling heavily to the ground. He felt bitter in his mouth, and a rusty smell spread out. It turned out that his lips had been scratched and bleeding, and the blood ignited Mike's anger. Just as he was about to get up, the butterfly saber that had suddenly landed in Allen's hand suddenly stabbed down and stabbed deeply into his palm.

"Ah" Mike opened his mouth to cry out in pain.

A bloody hand clutched his mouth tightly and Alan pressed down on him. One hand covered Mike's mouth, the other clenched into a fist and smashed heavily into his lower abdomen. This punch caused Mike to bow up and his stomach to twitch violently. He wanted to spit out something, but Alan's hand that was pressing down on his mouth tightly blocked it.

Mike dislocated one hand and nailed the other to the ground, unable to move for a moment. Alan was like an emotionless machine, using his fist to mechanically repeat the movements of raising his arm and punching down. Again and again, with constant speed and force, he smashed into Mike's abdomen. The muffled sound of a blow rang out in the fighting area, as well as in the ears of every onlooker.

Their faces turned extremely pale. Two of them had already trembled and almost collapsed to the ground.

At the other end of the training hall, the elevator door opened and Lucy and Emily walked out. Emily pulled Lucy and said, "Forget about Alan today, come with me for reaction training."

Lucy looked at her strangely, "Emily, what's wrong with you today? You've been keeping me out of the training hall since just now, and now you want me to accompany you."

"This Undying Arena is about to begin. I also want to work hard to become stronger."

"Don't worry." Lucy patted her shoulder and said, "Sister will protect you."

Suddenly, a miserable scream sounded from the fighting area. Someone screamed, "Someone, kill! Kill!"

Hearing this, Emily's expression changed, but Lucy had already run in that direction. The fighting area was already surrounded by the news. Lucy split up the crowd and squeezed in. She knocked away the few youths who had been watching and saw Alan stand up. He slowly turned around, his face and body covered in blood, but Mike finally spat out a mouthful of blood.

Looking at the ground again, Mike remained motionless, not knowing whether he was alive or dead.

"Alan, this is" Lucy's eyes widened.

Alan stiffened his lips and said, "He was the one who attacked first."

At this moment, a group of guards squeezed in. Behind the guards was still the building's security director, Smith. Smith shook his head when he saw Alan and Mike. "What's going on?"

"It's Ellen, it's him …" A youth beside him came back to his senses and screamed, "It's Ellen. It's him …"

Before he could finish speaking, Smith had already swept his palm over and knocked him to the ground. The security director took out a handkerchief and wiped his hands. "I didn't ask you. Tell me, Ellen."

Alan gave a brief account of what had happened. Smith nodded and said, "You can go now."

Then he said to the guard, "Throw this trash into the infirmary."

Alan walked over to Lucy and wanted to say something. But Lucy said first, "There's no need to say anything. I trust you."

Then she looked at Emily, who was following behind her, and Lucy said in a low voice, "Emily, is that why you've been pestering me to keep me from seeing Ellen? So that Mike can do something to Ellen?"

"Lucy, I …" Emily shook her head. "Mike told me he was just trying to teach Alan a lesson. I really don't know …"

"Enough!" Lucy looked at the girl and sighed, "Mike, that's fine, but you're the same."

"Let's go."

The girl pulled Ellen and the two of them emerged from the fighting area. When he left, Alan accidentally saw a person.

Ans.

He stood quietly to the side, thoughtful. Seemingly sensing Ai Hua's gaze, he looked back, forced a smile, and then lowered his head to leave.

As soon as he got back to his room, Anse hadn't sat down when Smith came. The security director looked around and smiled, "Mr. Ans, there's something interesting. Guess what we found in Mr. Mike's room. Ha, a Strengthening Medicine."

"Is … is that so?" An Siqiang calmly said, "So what?"

"I checked the most recent list of rewards and found no record of the distribution of fortifiers under Mr. Mike's list. Then something interesting happened … "Smith walked behind Anse and said," You shouldn't know, in order to avoid making mistakes in the distribution. Usually, we have to make some small marks on the prizes when we get off the prize list. We found the mark on Mike's potion. Strangely, this mark indicates that you should be the owner of the Strengthening Medicine. "

"Then can you tell me, Mr. Ans, why did your potion run into Mike's room?"

"Maybe … maybe he stole it." Ann tried her best to squeeze this sentence out of her mouth.

"Really? Then I sincerely hope that the representative of the Alexandrian family will believe you." Smith walked to the door, where he stopped again. He turned to Ann and said, "You're smart, really. Smart people don't usually do it on their own, but you're not clean enough. And I don't think something like Mike deserves a fortifier."

After Smith left, Ann realized that her back was wet with sweat.

In the afternoon, the representative of Alexander came. As soon as he entered, he asked, "Why did you do this?"

"Because he's too close to Lucy." This time, Ans had no intention of lying at all.

"Oh, you wasted the good intentions of the Alexandrian family just because of a woman?"

"No, sir." Ans raised his head and looked into the delegate's eyes. "Before Mr. Main paid attention to me, Alan and Lucy were in the top two. They were extraordinary, sir. And they seemed to have become friends. These two people posed a great threat to me, so I wanted to cripple Alan before the game. It was for strategic reasons."

The delegate listened and closed his eyes for a moment before saying, "I believe you, and your judgment is correct. Unfortunately, you failed. Failure is failure, and there is no excuse. Mr. Main hates losers, and the Alexandrians have a system of punishment for it, so that losers will remember the lessons."

Ann gritted her teeth. "I understand, sir. Please punish me."

"Very well, I think you will be given a lighter punishment if you fail for the first time. Remember, you won't have a second chance."

After the representative left, a man wearing sunglasses and a suit walked in. He opened a black suitcase and took out an oily whip.

That night, Anse had no choice but to lie on the bed, and ten clear bloodstains were left on his back. And an unforgivable shame.

"I will repay you double, Ellen." Lying on the bed, Ans said word for word.

Two days passed in the blink of an eye. Finally, it was time for the death arena to begin.

Allen woke up at 5 a.m. and carefully put on the light armor that the committee had rewarded him. The light armor was very close to his body, and even if he put on the clothes that the organizers had prepared for each youth, it would not affect the event. After putting on his clothes, Alan picked up Kuang Tu, who was lying in the corner, and quietly walked out of the bedroom. To his surprise, Hughton, who was rarely seen in the morning, stood in front of the hall window early this morning and looked out at the city that was gradually waking up.

"What, are you planning to leave without saying goodbye? I've been your mentor for a month no matter what, and I didn't even say goodbye?" Hughton turned around. Today, it was rare for him to not be carrying wine bottles, and his clothes were neatly dressed. Apart from his eyes that were still red as usual, he looked no different from a normal person.

"Mr. Hughton, thank you for your guidance this month." Alan said seriously, "If I survive, I'll treat you to a good drink."

"I like that." Hughton grinned and said, "Get over here. You have to remember this while you still have some time."

He took out a piece of paper from his pocket with dense words written on it. Ellen asked curiously, "What is this?"

"To be honest, the best way to break through the first barrier is not to use it. I have tried my best to minimize the impact on your heart, but if you use it in the death arena, it may bring you extra danger. Anyway, remember it first. After reading it, remember to burn this thing." Hughton muttered, "Origin Energy Confinement is not a good thing. I don't want to have anything to do with this kind of troublesome matter."

Despite what he said, Alan was still full of gratitude to him. With his memory, he quickly engraved every word on the paper in his mind. After reading it, Alan burned the note.

Seeing that the note had turned to ash, Hughton nodded and said, "Let's go. I'll accompany you to the assembly point. Tonislaw should be there too."

Hughton grabbed Ellen's shoulder and said seriously, "Strive to survive, boy."
