After watching an episode, Chen B-Dog did not hurry to watch another. Hand on his chin, he frowned and said, “It is very good. But something seems to be missing.”

Dog Egg popped out the Confused Nick Young’s meme to express its doubt.

Chen B-Dog replied, “Take it easy. I am not saying that something is wrong with your skill. I am considering other issues.”

“First of all, this is a variety show centered on disseminating popular science through exploration and I used the live broadcast as the method for recording the show. Many interesting topics had been brought up throughout the show, usually when answering the questions asked by the audience in the broadcast room. However, such material had been deleted in this official edited version. If it was someone who doesn’t know about the live broadcast watching this show, will he or she feel like I am a chatterbox who talks too much?”

“Let’s try taking it this direction.”

Dog Egg’s mind was in sync with his. In no time, the virtual screen displayed a number of the unused materials. And these were exactly the answers he made corresponding to the questions asked by the audiences, including the reason for why he first started singing that night.

Displaying a few pop-up comments to show that he had been interacting with the audience made the video seem more natural.

Chen B-Dog clapped his hands and said, “Yes, this is it. There are plenty of wilderness adventure shows in the Western countries. However, I can guarantee you that I am the only one in the whole world who’s using live broadcast as the method for filming shows as such. This is my specialty. As long as it does not affect the overall effect of the show, why should I abandon it?”

“Besides, when I am introducing the plants and animals, and imparting wilderness survival knowledge, you can try to add some simple special effects such as inserting pop-up comments, emoticons, and educational science experiments where there are empty spaces on the screen. In a sense, these can also be considered as special effects.”

“Since it is a variety show, the wordings need not be too serious. Let’s try to do I t in a slightly more cartoon-ish style. Where there are embarrassing scenes and punchlines, you could also magnify the effect.”

After endless communication and experiments with Dog Egg, they added in many ideas. However, the time length of every episode became longer which was unavoidable.

“No, it is still too long. One season has been edited into four episodes. And usually variety shows in China were aired weekly. Doesn’t it mean that the audience has to wait for a month just to finish one season?”

Chen B-Dog shook his head. “Let’s redo the editing. We will make it into three episodes this time. Each episode shall include the content of one day. The time length can be extended to 80 minutes for each episode.”

One human, one AI, and a number of modifications later, the result was getting nearer to his idea. However, when more and more things were involved, sometimes he felt that many things were beyond his power.

Chen B-Dog was at the end of his wits. “Can I redeem a director or editor Skill?”

“Beep, redemption not possible. Master, please complete the Main Mission as soon as possible to upgrade the System.”

Chen B-Dog felt discouraged. Whenever the System encountered something related to entertainment, it would either impose strict restrictions or set a high price. Couldn’t it be more pleasant?

After much thought and consideration, only one person seemed to come to mind, and that was Hu Ge.

It was a little embarrassing. He was not someone who thought one must repay others’ grace after accepting it. Besides, all debts should have cleared by now, so strictly speaking, he would be the one who was taking advantage of the superstar.

However, comparing losing face with the System’s mission, he chose the latter without hesitation.

He put in a call to Hu Ge and his assistant, Xiao Lei answered the call. “Hello Xiao Lei. I am B-Dog. Is the superstar there?”

“B-Dog, it’s you, Lord B-Dog.” Xiao Lei was excited and said, “You have become a superstar now. My boss and I have seen your videos. You are brilliant and so handsome that I almost could not recognize you. My boss is in filming now. What is the matter?”

Chen B-Dog was too shy to say. He said stiffly, “Well, I have made a show and I was hoping to get some advice from the superstar. I have sent you the video. When Hu Ge is free, please let him have a look.”

“Okay, just send it to me. I will forward it to my boss.”

After ending that call, he asked Dog Egg to contact Freelance Cowboy.

Rumor had it that Freelance Cowboy was an invisible tycoon in China. Since the establishment of Panda, he was keen to watch the live broadcast on the platform. It had just been a little over a month and he already spent few millions as if it was child’s play. With just his own effort, he had fed a group of small anchors. That was how his tycoon reputation spread over the entire platform.

When he received the private message from Chen B-Dog at the back-end, he was quite surprised. He followed the content of the message and made a call to B-Dog, “Is that you, Lord B-Dog? Why are you so free to contact me? Are you sending me some benefits? I am eyeing the wolf fang necklace.”

The voice on the end sounded honest and it seemed to come from a fat middle-aged man.

Smiling, Chen B-Dog answered, “You have to wait for the wolf fang necklace. I have no time to sand it now. Do you still want the five-leaf ginseng? If so, just send me your address.”

“Yes, I want it. It is such a heartache not getting the seven-leaf ginseng. I will not lose out on the five-leaf ginseng. I can never get enough of such good things. Just tell me how much I have to pay.”

“Forget about the money. I will earn it back from President Wang. Send me your address, I am waiting for the bus.”

Freelance Cowboy was shocked. The five-leaf ginseng would cost at least few hundred thousand or one million and he was getting it for free. He was not a stingy person either. He smiled and said, “Then I’ll save the money. Wrap it carefully and don’t get it crushed.”

“Okay, noted.” Chen B-Dog wrapped the ginseng in the hotel. After the courier service picked up the item, he packed his luggage and checked out of the hotel.

Panda had contacted him numerous times, so he had to make a trip. He bought a train ticket to Harbin and planned to fly to Shanghai after getting his luggage. Since he had many sensitive items with him such as the prohibited wolf skin and hunting knives, he could not even board a train or a plane. So he had to find other ways to transport the goods.

During the Chinese New Year period, it was difficult to get a ticket for anything. Luckily he had Dog Egg to help him to grab one. Otherwise, he would not have gotten it smoothly.

As soon as the plane landed and his phone switched on, he received a voice message from Hu Ge, “B-Dog, I watch the video. There’s a pretty girl who’d like to meet you. Do you have time to come over to Shanghai?”

It was already late evening by the time B-Dog met Hu Ge at the hotel.

It was quite cold during winter in Shanghai. The pedestrians wrapped themselves up in down jackets. On the contrary, he only wore a casual fitted white T-shirt and a leather jacket. He was waiting at the hotel’s rooftop café. After a while, two people wearing sunglasses came in and one of them was Hu Ge.

Hu Ge had seen Chen B-Dog greeting him from afar. When he drew closer, he was stunned. Were it not for the similar face shape of the fatty on the sickbed, he could not recognize him.

“Superstar, long time no see.”

Hu Ge took off his sunglasses. Having given B-Dog an once-over, he said surprisingly. “B-Dog? Oh my god, I guess it’s true that every dog has his day. Luckily you did not become my assistant back then, otherwise it would have been my sin.”

Chen B-Dog smiled and said, “You flatter me. I have to thank you for not giving up on me instead. And this is…?”
