Greetings, Mister Principal

Chapter 7: Writing the thesis

Luna Nova Magical Academy at night seemed quiet and serene. The time had already passed the regulated lights off time. and the entire academy was shrouded in darkness. Except for a few street lamps on the square, the swaying light of the principal's office was still on.

Reiner was sitting at his desk. He did not sleep, but was concentrating on the task in front of him.

He was holding a quill pen. This popular writing tool in the Middle Ages needed to be constantly dipped in ink to write. Reiner was worried about writing at first, but later he found out that the current body of his has learned to read and write before, and his writing was quite pretty.

At first, Reiner just wanted to see if he had the benefits of the so-called transmigrator.

Usually, most of the transmigrators would have cheats such as game systems, brain libraries, special talents, wonderful rings, brain chips, smartphones, or mentally retarded goddesses. However, Reiner confirmed that he had no system and no special talents. After finding that there was no special ring around, he started to see if I could copy some books and songs.

He recalled the masterpieces on the earth, and soon Reiner discovered that although he could recall the plot of the Hunchback of Notre-Dame of Victor Hugo, he was unable to reproduce it. As for those ballads, Reiner could repeat it through notation, but it was limited to simple ones. It was impossible for him to compose a symphony of destiny.

"It seems that there is no cheat..."

Reiner sighed, probably too many transmigrators nowadays, so resources were getting scarce.

Since the attempt failed, he could only rely on memory to write a thesis while studying.

Fortunately, this experiment was the simplest and most basic one, and it did not require much professional knowledge.

Reiner first wrote the title of the thesis on parchment.

"Discussion on Special Gas Produced in Grey Stone Heating Experiment and Research on Several Issues of Traditional Combustion Reaction Theory".

Of course, he couldn't directly write a headline like "The Fallacy Of Burning Reaction", even if it was a fact, because Reiner knew that doing academia was different from doing news. If he put out this shocking view from the beginning, there was absolutely no journal that dared to publish his thesis.

It may even be rejected for being too attention-seeking in the review stage.

Therefore, Reiner chose to proceed step by step, starting with basic experiments, and then through the reaction results making people accept the argument step by step, and finally put forward his own argument.

After writing the title, Reiner immediately began to write the introduction in the format of a thesis on Earth.

"Abstract: The special gas that appeared in the process of heating Grey Stone to make White Stone was discovered and proved its existence, and its properties were explored through various alchemical methods..."

Reiner had read a few of the latest journals. The theses in this world have not yet formed the standardized format like the theses on the earth. Basically, they were written according to their own preferences. Some people would imitate the formats of some academic authorities. But Reiner chose the way he was most familiar with.

"Should I be thankful that I don't need to translate this abstract into English..." (TL: All theses' abstract in China needs to be translated into English.)

Reiner laughed at himself, and after writing the summary, he added a few more keywords.

Grey Stone, White Stone, new material, combustion reaction.

After writing this, Reiner started the first chapter and began to write the thesis step by step.

"Chapter One: The transformation of Grey Stone and White Stone and its basic experiments: As we all know, in everyday life, heating of Grey Stone is an extremely common process, and its product - White Stone, can be used to make several important raw materials needed in construction..."

Reiner wrote very quickly. On the one hand, he could write a lot. Although he had no references, he did not have to worry about repetition with other theses. On the other hand, he had not enjoyed this kind of clear-thinking thesis writing process for a long time.

When he was a college student, he who was a straight-A should have been able to apply for postgraduate research, but the family changes forced him to work early and gave up the academic path. As for being targeted at the college, that was another story.

There were a few cat's meows from outside the window. Spring was already halfway through, and the temperature at night had risen a lot, but it still seemed a bit cold. Reiner didn't feel cold, instead, as if there was a flame burning in his heart, his body was spread a trace of warmth.

It wasn't until the sky was getting brighter and the east appeared a little sunlight that Reiner put down the quill pen.

After counting, he wrote a full thirty-page thesis.

Although the history of modern magic was only three hundred years old, the magic of this world has formed an academic atmosphere. If one wanted to earn academic points, they must first send their theses to the Rainbow Tower, which was the magic center of this world.

According to Reiner's final registration process from several journals, if a thesis wanted to be published, it would first be backed up in the huge database of Rainbow Tower, and then through repeated reviews, the review committee would use magic to check whether the paper had plagiarized other people's work and whether it was duplicate content that others have studied. This process would last up to one day.

After the check finished, it would enter the review stage. The thesis would be submitted to different review committees according to the field involved. Generally speaking, an ordinary thesis would be reviewed by three committee members. If there were huge differences, It would be submitted to a higher-level committee for review until an evaluation was given. This process would usually take one to five days depending on the thesis.

After receiving the evaluation, the result would be notified to the writer. The writer could use this to submit theses to major journals and earn academic points, but generally speaking, if it was a highly evaluated thesis, the publication would be arranged by high-level journals in advance. Of course, this was not something that should be discussed at this moment.

Reiner checked his words again, stretched his waist, rubbed his sleepy eyes, and walked out of the office with the thesis, but he did not expect to meet Claire.

At this time, Professor Claire was still dressed like a witch, but Reiner could see a set of black and white clothes in her hand, which must be the maid costume of this world.

"Good morning, Professor Claire."

Reiner yawned, with a lazy appearance, making Claire frown.

"Mister Principal, didn't you go back to your room to sleep last night?"

She felt a little strange to see that the lamp in the principal's office behind Reiner was still on.

"Mhm, I lost track of the time when writing the thesis, when I looked up, it was already this time... Ha~"

As Reiner said, he yawned again and then continued.

"By the way, Professor Claire, this is the thesis. Could you please give it to Miss Sharon and let her read it carefully. If she doesn't understand the marked areas or has problems, she can come to the office to look for me after dinner today. Hmmm, if you are worried about it, you can come too."

He stuffed the thesis to Claire, looking like he was going to sleep.

"Of course, it's best to fulfill your promises together."

Reiner glanced at the maid outfit in Claire's hands and said.

"You......"

Claire was a little confused for a while and took the thesis in a daze. It wasn't until Reiner wandered away from the corner that she recovered. Somewhat angrily, she opened the thick pile of parchment in her hand.

"Discussion about the special gas produced in the Grey Stone heating experiment... Wait, don't tell me he?..."

She had a hunch when she read the title. After quickly flipping through the thesis, Claire felt a little unsteady. She leaned against the wall, and could not believe what she had just seen.

"Such a rigorous, straightforward, informative thesis, that guy got it out overnight, did he cheat?"
