Yui Mei was bustling around today, as well. She was one of the lowest-ranked court ladies working in the inner palace.
“It feels so satisfying now that everything’s so lovely.”
She vigorously cleaned around the place while humming a tune. Suddenly, footsteps echoed down the hallway.
Judging from the relaxed pace, it must be some big shot strolling around.
Yui Mei hid herself behind the hall pillar. She bowed her head as she clutched her rag.
“Hey, stop crouching against the pillar, somebody’s gonna trip on you.”
A male’s harsh remarks resounded overhead.
“Oh, it’s just Li Yong.”
Seeing that it’s somebody she knew, Yui Mei raised her head and relaxed her guard. She leaned against the pillar.
“You’re disturbing my work so hurry up and go.”
Li Yong’s eyebrows twitched as she waved her hand and shooed him away.
“Is that so? I got some snacks from His Highness the Crown Prince, it’s a pity you don’t want any.”
Li Yong dangled a beautifully wrapped package in front of Yui Mei.
“I want, please give me some!”
Yui Mei’s attitude did a 180 degree turn upon hearing the word snack.
It’s confectionary bestowed by the crown prince, so the quality must surely be excellent.
“Wait for a bit, I’ll just wash my hands!”
“Go bring some tea while you’re at it.”
Li Yong shouted after Yui Mei as she dashed off to wash her dirt-stained hands.
If this was a different era, their status won’t allow them to come into contact with each other.
But the flow of time is so mysterious, and now both of them are here.
