Humans Shrunk 100 Times

Chapter 27: Just Playing Around?

The first thing Chen Mu did when he woke up was to take out the plastic ball he had placed under the towel last night. To his surprise, there was still a faint glimmer of light, though it was already very weak, struggling to shine its last light.

Looking at it this way, the lifespan of this light bulb was already quite good; it could at least last for one night.

Yesterday, Dong Junwei had also tried wood and cotton threads, but none of them had any reaction. It seemed that her ability to infuse energy didn't work on all objects.

He had thought he was the first one to wake up, but he found that Tang Jing was already walking back from the direction of the restroom.

"So early today?"

"We changed rooms, Da Lei's snoring was much quieter, so I slept better last night," Tang Jing smiled.

Chen Mu helplessly said, "But we're unlucky."

There were two rooms in total, naturally accommodating five boys in one room and four girls in the other.

Da Lei's snoring was much better for the girls, but it caused discomfort for the boys. It made Qian Fei and the others sleep late, and Chen Mu also suffered from it.

Tang Jing pursed her lips and smiled, "It seems like we need to prepare a separate room for Da Lei in the future."

Chen Mu said, "In the future, each of us should have our own individual rooms."

"I have thought about it too. It's actually not that difficult, just time-consuming. For now, safety is the priority for the house, and we can improve comfort later. We have a lot of things to do," Tang Jing said.

"Hmm," Chen Mu agreed.

Tang Jing continued, "I thought about the issue with the door last night. If it doesn't work, we could simply leave a hole for one person to crawl in and out. That way, we won't have to worry about big creatures like rats. Then we can find something to block it at night, and it should be fine."

"No need."

"Huh?"

Tang Jing didn't understand. She saw Chen Mu walk over to the girls' room and place his hand on the position of the door.

In the next moment, the originally crooked and unable to be securely closed door suddenly changed its angle.

Chen Mu smoothly closed the door.

Perfectly seamless.

"You've improved so quickly," Tang Jing exclaimed.

Chen Mu also smiled and said, "Although I'm not as clever as you, I can make up for it with diligence. Before going to bed last night, I kept simulating this action in my mind, and today I practiced it a few times using the door of the boys' room."

"Diligence pays off, and you're not dull at all," Tang Jing teased and then asked, "Are you waking up early every day to exercise your ability?"

"Yes, it's my last resort," Chen Mu said frankly.

Tang Jing fell silent for a moment, as if wanting to say something but hesitating.

At this moment, Chang Junyan came out of the room excitedly, "Hey, Chen Mu fixed this door?"

"Just about. Does it work?" Chen Mu asked.

"More than just working, it's just like the doors at home."

"What are you up to? So excited."

Previously, besides Wei Dalei, Chen Mu probably interacted the most with Chang Junyan in their class. It wasn't because they had a particularly close relationship; it was just that this guy was a chatterbox, naturally cheerful, and even a bit of a joker. He could chat with you for half a day over trivial matters.

But due to the apocalypse and the low mood in the past few days, it seemed that now he was gradually returning to his original character.

Chang Junyan ran up to them and said mysteriously, "Chen Mu, Tang Jing, let me tell you, I might have awakened my ability."

"Really?"

Chen Mu was genuinely happy. Having one more ability user in the team meant more strength and significantly reduced pressure for survival. Tang Jing also showed a fierce look.

One minute later, everyone gathered together.

"What exactly is your ability?" Dong Junwei asked on behalf of everyone, showing curiosity.

"I don't know how to describe it. I'll have to start from the beginning..." Chang Junyan sighed and was about to start rambling.

However, everyone in the class knew about his ways. If they let him start from the beginning, they probably wouldn't need to do anything that day.

Dong Junwei quickly stopped him, "Don't start from the beginning, just tell us the most important part."

"Alright... the main thing is, a few days ago, I kept getting bumps on my body that itched. At first, I thought it was mosquito bites. When I mentioned it to Zhu Hao last night, he said I was silly. A mosquito now would probably be smaller than us humans, so how could we not know if it bit us? I thought about it, and he was right; there's no mosquito that small. So, it definitely wasn't a bite. Then I considered a few other possibilities, like allergies, or maybe..."

"Oh, I see. Anyway, I think these bumps on my body are related to my ability," Chang Junyan summarized.

"Then... what exactly does it do?"

"I don't know, that's why I'm asking everyone to help me figure it out."

"Can you control when it appears?" Chen Mu asked.

"Yes."

"Can you control when it disappears?"

"No, I can only wait for it to heal naturally, just like when you're really bitten by a mosquito."

"Can you control where it appears?"

"Yes, but it's easiest to control on my hands. It's harder on my back, and it's uncomfortable when it appears there, as I can't scratch it."

"How many times have you tried?"

"In the past few days, I didn't realize it, so last night was the first time I consciously tried. Look..." Chang Junyan extended his arm and revealed a faint red raised bump on his forearm, just like a mosquito bite.

"Does it itch?"

"Yes, but not too severely. It just feels nice to scratch it," Chang Junyan said as he scratched his forearm with his other hand.

"How many of these bumps can appear at once?" Chen Mu asked.

"Only one. I have to wait for it to naturally disappear before another one can appear."

"Besides this, are there any other special conditions?" Tang Jing asked.

"Special? Well, it feels really satisfying to scratch them. Does that count?"

...

The crowd fell silent.

Then, everyone chimed in with questions, and they engaged in a lively discussion. However, even Tang Jing couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation.

Growing a bump on the body.

Is that considered an ability?

What's the use of it?

Just playing around by scratching?

Tang Jing said, "I guess it's similar to Zhu Hao's situation. For now, we can't see any special use, but it's okay; we'll know sooner or later."

"No worries, at least he can scratch and play with it when he's bored. It's still somewhat more useful than Zhu Hao's horns..." one person said.

Chang Junyan himself didn't seem disappointed. He continued scratching his arm and bragging to others.

This guy has a really big heart.

...

In the end, they couldn't figure out the true nature of Chang Junyan's ability, just like with Zhu Hao. For now, they could only carry the title of being an "ability user" while doing ordinary tasks.

So far, among the nine people, six had awakened their abilities, leaving only Du Jiajia, Qian Fei, and Tang Jing.

Among those who awakened, Zhao Xiaoyan's enhanced sense of smell had not been used for a long time, causing her to almost forget that she was an ability user. As for Zhu Hao and Chang Junyan, they didn't seem to be of much help either.
