My Fenrir System: Heir To The End

Chapter 14: How is it possible that he is still alive?

Chapter 14: How is it possible that he is still alive?

Once he came to, he collapsed, desperately craning his neck, his eyes widened as if to take in the whole world with a single glance.

The pupils dilated, diluting any vestige of color into a dark abyss of dread. The skin was very pale, revealing throbbing veins and barely visible stress lines.

"I... I... I... I'm... A-v... ve... alive-o..."

Lips, once tingling with vitality, arched into a grotesque grimace, mouth half-open, as if about to let out a desperate scream, but unable to articulate any words.

An uncontrollable tremor shook his body, spreading from trembling fingers to tense muscles in his neck and jaw.

His hands, clutched at any surface within reach, as if he feared the ground itself might disappear beneath his feet.

Gasping and gasping breaths echoed throughout the coliseum, creating a soundtrack of despair.

Each inhalation was an anxiety-laden sigh, each exhalation a shuddering groan that seemed to presage the imminent collapse of his sanity.

In his eyes, the empty look of one who has seen beyond the horrors of the world, the look of one who knows he is on the threshold of the unfathomable.

It was an expression of pure terror, without filter, without palliation.

Erik looked up and met the eyes of the humanoid figure, whose gradually I know his image became clearer, revealing the scarred face of a man in his late forties or early forties at most.

"Stand up and take the gun."

A hoarse voice came from the lips of the man standing in front of him, looking at him neutrally.

It made his whole body visibly tremble with fear.

"You didn't listen to me. Get up and take the gun."

The man repeated, but the problem was that his body did not respond. He was still in shock after experiencing his first death.

"Tsk!"

The man smacked his lips when he saw that Erik could not get up from the ground and was still trembling with fear.

He took a few steps back to give him time to recover.

After about ten minutes, Erik slowly began to sit up, leaning on the spear as his feet felt like jelly.

He still remembered vividly when he was decapitated a few moments ago.

'But how could he possibly still be alive?'

Even though his body was still trembling, he still had doubts about how he could be alive after being decapitated.

he could even see how his whole world was turned upside down, his body decapitated.

So how was it possible for him to be alive?

'Maybe it has something to do with the system.'

That was the conclusion he came to, besides his head is not in a state to think too much after being decapitated.

Once fully recovered, he looked again at the man in front of him nervously and with a lot of fear, but his legs still did not respond.

The man in front of him prepared to attack again and, out of pure instinct, protected his neck to avoid repeating the same experience.

However, he received a heavy blow to the stomach.

"Puaj..."

Erik fell to the ground, holding his stomach with a pained expression as saliva and blood escaped from his mouth.

"Get up."

Erik looked up, his expression of this one wrinkled in pain.

He met the man's cold eyes, feeling as if he intubated seeing even a giant.

"Why are you attacking me?"

He had forgotten the purpose of the penalty mission: to confront the man for a specific amount of time.

"..."

The man didn't respond and prepared to attack again. Erik, not wanting to take another hit, lunged at him with reckless and ineffective movements.

These were easily dodged by the man, who said:

"Never throw yourself recklessly against an opponent stronger than you, that will only lead to death."

He then threw a combo: a left jab to the face, a straight right to the abdomen, a left hook to the liver, a straight right to the face, and a left hook to the chin.

It did so at such a dizzying speed that the human eye or even that of a high-ranking hunter could not perceive it.

Erik, being a low-ranking hunter, barely glimpsed the shadow of the attack, thanks to his new eyes, before he fell to the ground again.

He sat up again, but in doing so fell to his knees again from the blow he had received to his chin.

Seven seconds passed before his body responded and he rose with a single movement.

"Gasp... gasp... gasp... gasp... gasp..."

Erik was breathing heavily and his face was covered with bruises and blood. Looking up, he saw no sign of the man anywhere.

Once again, his world lost its balance as he stared at a line of blood in front of his eyes.

"Seriously..."

Those were the only words he said as his head spun in the air.

When he came back to himself again, to clutched his chest tightly, as if it was impossible for him to breathe.

She felt a lump in her throat, tears, snot, and saliva painted her face all over.

This was the second time Erik had faced death. He never wants to feel this again.

'Why do I have to go through this?'

Also, he wants to understand why he died twice and is experiencing this.

First, he decapitates him and then warns him not to recklessly attack a stronger opponent.

This last he understood because the man was right, but now he understood absolutely nothing.

"Get up!"

Said the man, now wielding a spear.

"A..."

Erik wanted to ask something, but he knew he would get no answer from the person in front of him.

He straightened up, he was still scared, and afraid, and his whole body was shaking. It seems he is still affected by the two deaths.

The man lunged at him with the spear and quickly attacked his side, followed by a full swing to strike hard using the opposite end of the spear.

But the attack did not end there; he continued with a powerful downward strike, followed by a horizontal sweep.

Then he executed a series of precise and fast thrusts.

Erik died once again after receiving such an attack, completely helpless. This was already his third death, but he felt as if...

'They were training me, in a horrible way.'

He could observe all the movements the man-made with the spear, unlike when he was throwing punches with his fists, he could barely glimpse a shadow of those attacks.

He knew perfectly well that the man in front of him was far superior in every way. It was like comparing a beautiful diamond to a dirty stone.

After that, Erik took a beating from the man, dying over and over again, so many times that he even lost count when he reached a hundred.

All the deaths were caused by the spear, the man did not change weapons in all that time, but used different techniques constantly.

Thus time passed with Erik dying repeatedly, staining the coliseum floor with his blood.

Once the four hours had passed, Erik reappeared in the hospital room, his body again full of blood and wounds.

Tti-ring.

[Would you like to confirm?] (Y/N)

As he gazed at the floating windows in front of him, he still did not understand how he could be revived so many times.

Each time he died, the sensations were too real to attribute solely to his intention.

Except for the first two times, he didn't even notice when he was decapitated.

'I don't know how long my sanity will hold out if this continues.'

Putting his thoughts aside for the moment, he proceeded to receive the rewards, pressing "Confirm".

"Oh, not again it's not..."

Erik's head began to hurt. It felt like he had a severe migraine and random information was being fed into his brain.

But he knows it was the knowledge about wielding the spear that was implanted directly into his brain.

Fortunately, the pain did not last long compared to when the new eyes were implanted.

Tti-ring.

[Implantation completed!]

"Shit, why does everything I get have to hurt so much?"

Erik lay in bed, still disoriented from the sudden overload of information in his brain.
