My Fenrir System: Heir To The End

Chapter 7: Penalty Part - 2

Chapter 7: Penalty Part - 2

[Penalty mission: survive]

Objective: stay alive until time runs out.

Time limit: 4 hours

Time remaining: 4 hours, 0 minutes, 0 seconds.

? Warning: If you don't complete the penalty missions, you will DIE!

'So, actually, I was transported to a dungeon.'

Erik inspected the information window that had appeared in front of him. However, he immediately ignored it because he had no time to read.

He knows very well that any carelessness could allow one of the creatures lurking in the shadows to pounce on him.

He watched cautiously and nervously, began to move slowly so as not to alert the lurking predators, desperately searching for an escape route.

However, a growing sense of panic came over him, and he felt that if he made any rash moves, things would get worse.

Nervously, he began to advance slowly towards a tree, seeking the cover he needed to avoid being surprised from behind. Each of his movements was calculated to the millimeter, but, without realizing it, something unexpected happened.

Crack!

".... Shit!"

Erik as his right foot snapped a nearby dry branch, breaking the ominous silence of the forest.

At that sound alone, the monsters around them were completely alerted.

Smash!!

The bush behind him crumbled, and something jumped out from inside. Whatever emerged, upon landing, launched itself straight for Erik's vulnerable neck with a nimble leap.

"Roar!"

Erik watched as the monster lunged for his neck, though compared to the monster that had killed Adam's entire group, this one seemed much slower.

Ducking nervously to avoid the imminent attack of the monster that was lunging for his neck, he managed to dodge it by a hair's breadth.

However, the creature, realizing that its attempted attack had failed, could not stop for a moment and crashed violently into the tree.

Stab!

When the monster's fangs impacted against the tree, a crack instantly formed in the hard bark of the tree.

"Damn!"

Erik as he began to desperately flee from the monsters that threatened to take his life.

The group of monsters, consisting of more than thirty grotesque and terrifying creatures, pursued him relentlessly through the thick forest.

Suddenly, one of the creatures, a reptilian beast with dark scales and sharp claws, leaped surprisingly toward Erik.

Before he could react, the beast's claws sank deep into his arm, leaving a painful, bleeding wound.

Without pausing to assess the severity of his injury, he continued running at full speed, dodging trees and rocks in his path.

The roars and growls of the monsters echoed in his ears, increasing his determination to escape.

The hours seemed to pass slowly, and every minute became a physical battle for Erik.

Although his body was exhausted, his mind remained surprisingly calm as he assessed the situation.

The forest seemed to stretch on endlessly, and the darkness enveloped everything. The shadows of the monsters lengthened behind him as if they were relentless specters that pursued him relentlessly.

***

Erik reappeared in his apartment just four hours later.

Plaf.

He collapsed on the bed.

"Cough cough!!!"

He groaned exhaustedly for quite a while before collapsing on his bed. He no longer had the strength to lift a finger.

"Gasp... gasp... gasp... That was too intense, I thought I was going to die."

Erik continued to gasp, a notification window appeared in front of him.

Tti-ring.

[You have completed the 'Penalty Mission'!]

[The rewards for completing the mission have arrived!]

[Would you like to confirm?] (Y/N).

After the message appeared, his passive ability continued to heal the wound on his arm.

Once he felt that his wound was healing, his vision gradually became blurred.

Soon, Erik fell into a deep sleep, similar to a blackout.

***

The next morning.

Tti-ring.

[The daily mission is now available!]

Erik's eyes snapped open.

He sat up quickly, and the first thing he did was look at the time on his phone, which read.

5:49 am.

That is, 5 to 6 hours had elapsed since midnight.

[Daily Mission: Assassinate your enemies!]

Goblins - Rank E, 20 times: incomplete (0/20).

Black tooth wolves - Rank E, 20 times: incomplete (0/20).

Skeleton - Rank E, 20 times: incomplete (0/20).

Goblin Leader - Rank D, 2 times: incomplete (0/2).

? Warning 1: For completing this mission, monsters will not give you experience.

? Warning 2: If you do not complete the daily quests, you will be sent to a random dungeon area for 4 hours.

Once he finished looking at the contents of the mission, which had not changed, he closed the information window, fixing his gaze on the ceiling.

He noticed something very important.

"I'm weak..."

Biting her lips in frustration, she realized how pathetic and weak her existence was right now.

He survived that group of monsters by pure and nothing but luck, the same happened when he entered the dungeon with Adam's group.

He is alive because he was lucky to get the system that saved his life. Although he is not sure which system was the one that saved him from imminent death.

"I'm so weak..."

He has never felt so imposing and pathetic in life. Erik wants to shake off this feeling of helplessness and frustration.

Slap!

Erik slapped his cheeks hard, leaving marks, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath, it seemed as if he had come to an important decision.

"I need to become stronger."

He opened his eyes, glowing with determination, not realizing that in his right hand, the geometric head of a wolf was formed. But that didn't matter to him at the moment.

He now had a clear objective.

To become strong.

With the help of the system, he can achieve, and he doesn't care what goal the system has for him.

As long as he becomes stronger, he does not mind becoming a chess piece.

Having ordered his thoughts and set a clear goal in mind, he got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to get ready.

Today is the day of the hunter's test, and he is determined not to be late, thus avoiding a repeat of the previous night's experience.

He wanted to make sure he arrived on time so that he could enjoy himself quietly.

Finishing getting ready, he sat on the bed while enjoying a piece of toast with water, making sure not to show up for the hunter's test on an empty stomach.

As he savored his breakfast.

Tti-ring.

[You have unread notifications.]

"What about this?"

He didn't remember that when he came back again, he had gotten some notifications, all he remembers is that he showed up in bed.

Erik didn't give the matter any more thought: "Open."

Tti-ring.

[You have completed the 'Penalty Mission'!]

[The rewards for completing the mission have arrived!]

[Would you like to confirm?] (Y/N).

"Oh, I'm surprised there's a reward for completing a penalty."

Without a second's hesitation, he pressed. "Confirm!"

Tti-ring.

[You receive the following rewards]

- Two Fenrir points

- Spear

- Inventory.

"Hmm, so these are the rewards. When you mention 'Inventory.' do you mean something similar to inventories in online games? If so it will be of great use to me. Also, I've been provided with a weapon that seems tailor-made for me."

Erik expressed his satisfaction with the rewards he had obtained by completing the Penalty Mission.

He looked at the spear he held in his hand, it seemed to be made of iron and had some golden details it was a rather simple spear in appearance.

Above the spear, a small window appears.

[Spear of the #$%$@#]

Status: Temporarily sealed

Description: Locked

"Hmm, so this spear must be very special, as to be sealed..."

He deduced as he looked closely at the description.

Erik said, "Inventory!".

As soon as he uttered the word 'Inventory.' a graphical representation of a storage unit with five slots appeared in the air.

'Hmm, looks like the storage space is quite limited'

Erik stroked his chin, this was like an identical copy of the online games he usually saw from time to time.

"Guard the spear".

Said he hoped it would work and that something similar would happen when he said "Status window".

As he uttered those words, the spear he was holding in his hand disappeared. looking at the inventory, he noticed that one of the slots was now occupied by the image of the spear. Instead of five free slots, there were now only four left.

He closed the inventory and opened his status window. He navigated straight to the bottom and selected the section that read:

[Fenrir Points: 2]

He noticed that now the 'Fenrir Points' had a description or explanation of their function.

[Fenrir Points]

Fenrir points can be used to improve skill proficiency, and raise stats, and are useful for purchasing items in the "Fenrir Store".

"Hmm, interesting..."

Erik found this very interesting, he can use it in skills and also in increasing his strength.

'So, if I use these points in my stats will they, increase?'

I was curious, so I decided to give it a try.

Tti-ring.

[You have spent two Fenrir Points in 'Statistics']

[Statistics]

Strength: 5 | Endurance: 6 | Dexterity: 5 | Vitality: 6 | End Energy: 1

"Hmm, this is quite interesting; my stats have increased by two, minus the end energy."

Erik as he watched his numbers increase, but felt no significant change in his body.

'It could be because the increase wasn't high.'

He had no way of knowing, whether his thinking was correct or not, Erik at this point wished he had a few more Fenrir points to prove his thinking.

He looked at the time on his old smartphone, which read.

7:08 am.

Realizing the time, Erik finished eating his toast and walked out of his apartment to the area where the hunters' association was conducting their tests.

***

After an hour-long bus ride, Erik finally reached the outskirts of the city, where he was met by a large crowd of people who were also coming to take the hunter's tests, just like him.

Getting off the bus, he started walking towards a place where there was a man and a woman dressed in black suits, standing at a small podium.

Once he arrived at the place where the man and the woman were, other people began to gather there as well.

When the man and the woman noticed that everyone had gathered, they stepped forward and looked straight ahead.

When the man and woman stepped forward, and their gazes fell on them, the conversations ceased, and everyone turned their gazes back to where they stood, aware that the test would soon begin.
