Overlord: Multiverse

Chapter 18: Yggdrasil XVI

In the past months, I managed to unlock two new variants. One of which was a tank-type build. I played as a Dragonoid, and my status looked like this;

Due to the Dragonoid racial class, this variant had high Physical Attacks and high Defenses. And due to job classes, I could equip heavy armor, shields, and a few close-range weapons.

I had a plan for a future variant where I would play as a Dragon. But, a racial class for a Dragon didn't exist in Yggdrasil, which meant I had to use 'Ouroborus' to request the devs for a custom racial class. But that was for the future.

My second variant wasn't very effective in one-on-one battles. I only had skills that could provide support to my allies.

For this variant, I decided to play as an Arcane Animus, a type of Living Construct. My status looked like this;

It was my tamer variant. Not a lot of Players chose to become a tamer-oriented build because they were practically powerless in a frontal confrontation.

They could only rely on their tamed beasts. But if someone did choose a few job classes geared toward taming, at most, they would be able to tame a few Magical Beasts.

In Yggdrasil, there was a difference between Monsters and Magical Beasts. A Monster was of a race that a Player could also play as, like, Liches, Demons, Imps, undead, angels, etc.

A Player could also tame these Monsters only if they had certain job classes, like, Necromancers. On the other hand, a tamer wouldn't be able to tame these Monsters.

A tamer could only tame Magical Beasts. And Players couldn't play as Magical Beasts. The job classes that I had allowed me to tame Magical Beasts and Monsters.

I hadn't started taming any beasts or monsters. I had plans to tame some bosses of some dungeons. My job class, the 'Lineage Domitor,' allowed me to tame even the dungeon bosses. But it required some prerequisites to be fulfilled.

I was currently standing in a room with many corpses spread around me. I started to work on my 10th variant, which I decided to play as a Human.

I chose to play as a Human because of the particular build I wanted. It required a lot of free levels, and I didn't have the space to put the racial classes of a Heteromorph.

I activated the "Altering Invocation."

[The skill 'Altering Invocation' has been used.]

[Congragulations for unlocking a new variant.]

[Race: Doppelganger(9 Variant) -> Doppelganger(10 Variant)]

For the appearance of the new variant, I chose a lean physique, fair skin, pure white eyes, and black hair.

In Yggdrasil, some mages specialized in controlling the elements. They were known as Elementalists. There were many elements they could choose to specialize in.

These elements included Water, Air, Earth, Fire, Poison, Acid, Gravity, Time, Magma, etc.

And I wanted job classes that would allow me to control all these elements.

To get started, I first needed to get the Mage job class. To get the job class, I needed to kill an enemy by using my MP. So, after switching to my Demon Variant, I flew outside of the HQ and started searching for an enemy.

After 15 minutes of searching, I came across a level 65 Frost Giant. I used some spells to bring his HP down to 4.

And then bound him to the ground using another spell. I then switched to the Human variant, compressed my Mana into a ball, and threw it toward the giant.

Upon the Mana ball's impact, the Frost Giant disappeared into motes of light and dropped some loot.

[Congragulations on Defeating a level 65 Frost Giant! You have received 8,000 EXP]

[Effects of 'Advancement Amulet' and 'Ring of Ascension' have been applied. 8,000 -> 16,000 EXP.]

[You have leveled up.]x12

'12 levels in a single jump, let's go.'

I allocated the majority of my state points to my MP and Magic Attack and distributed the rest evenly.

I also received a notification telling me about the available job classes I had.

[Classes Available: Arcanist, Mage, Wizard]

I chose the Mage job class and leveled it up to 10. That gave me the ability to learn 30 spells.

I mainly chose elemental spells, switched back to my Demon Variant, and then began scanning the area for any additional monsters of a high level. To get the Elementalist job class, one needs to kill monsters using only elemental spells.

Because the high-level monsters had elemental resistances, it made it difficult to kill them. But after 6 hours of grinding, I had leveled up the Mage job class to 15.

[Classes Available: Arcanist, Arch Mage, Elementalist(Water), Elementalist(Earth), Elementalist(Fire), Elementalist(Air), Wizard]

I chose all the Elementalist job classes. All of these were High leveled job classes. I continued grinding the levels, and after a week of grinding, I leveled up all of them to 10.

The next step was to select the Rare variant of these job classes; Greater Elementalist(element's name). Another week later, I leveled them up to 5. And now, I have these job classes;

Mage(15), Elementalist(Water)(10), Elementalist(Earth)(10), Elementalist(Air)(10), Elementalist(Fire)(10), Greater Elementalist(Water)(5), Greater Elementalist(Earth)(5), Greater Elementalist(Air)(5), Greater Elementalist(Fire)(5)

Now, I had to complete a quest found in Midgard and combine these Elementalist job classes into one job class.

The quest required me to defeat a set number of Elementals with only elemental attacks. It took quite a bit of time, but in the end, I was able to kill the required number and complete the quest.

[Congragulations on completing the quest of Efni.]

[Are you sure you want to combine your job classes? Y | N]

I selected Y, and it took away all the levels in my Elementalist job class. Now, I was fallen back to level 15.

And now, I have these job classes;

Mage(15), Elementalist(Quad)

Now I had to level up the new job class; to unlock new Elemental job classes and repeat the process.

~Time Skip~

It had taken me six months to complete this build, but now I had access to all the elements in Yggdrasil. My status looked like this;

...

...

Creating this build was the most challenging task I've undertaken.

To reach level 100, I had to keep resetting back to level 15 after I completed the quest to combine the job classes.

The process went something like this; I first unlocked the Elementalist(Quad) job class, leveled it up to 15, then got the Greater Elementalist(Quad), leveled it up again to 10, then unlocked the Arch Elementalist(Quad), leveled it up to 5, completed the quest and combined them into Elementalist(Octa).

I had to grind so much t reach level 100, but now I could use all the elements available in Yggdrasil.

~Time Skip~

It had been eight months since the second World Champion Tournament. Each year the Tournament was held again, and the previous holder of the World Champion title and job class had to defend their title and job class. I chose to win the first and second one.

But, this time, I had other plans. I could have defended my title and job class but decided not to. The reason was; I wanted to win the title and the job class on another variant. I intended to turn that variant into the World Enemy.

It was possible through the use of a World Item. So, for this year's Tournament, I decided to make another variant and win the Tournament.

For this variant, I decided to play as an Arachnoid. I only had three months to complete this character build. After doing some research on hidden job classes, I decided to make this a warrior build.

I kept grinding the three months I had, and in the end, this is what I ended up with;

[Job Class(s): Fighter(15), Ki Master(15), Ki Master: Physical(5), Ki Master: Spiritual(5), Ki King(5), Asura(5), Knight of Niflheim (5), Warlord(5)]

...

Typically, Players who had a martial artist-oriented build chose Ki Master job classes. But, I had the Ki King job class that allowed me to coat my weapons with Ki.

I decided to make my way to Helheim to participate in the Tournament.

~Time Skip~

I won the World Champion Tournament and received the title and the job class. I also received a new World Champion class item. Now all that was left to do was turn myself into a World Enemy.
