Reborn: Rise of the Greatest Summoner

Chapter 9 1st Contracted Beast- The Nightmare Beast

The Star Fox's interface status completely shocked Legolas.

Just the Infinite Potential that was written in tandem with its race shocked him. Infinite Potential was the reason why he created the Nightmare Beast Gene Limit Remover, this fox was indeed worthy of a reincarnation package.

All beasts were born with a bloodline limit. In the same way that dogs were always weaker than Lions, beasts here also experienced the same.

Most beasts found in Planet Darvis had a bloodline potential limit of Grade D, this meant that unless they met fortuitous encounters, their future growth would always be capped to the Grade D realm.

Only special beasts like Dragons had higher growth potentials, Legolas remembered that Black Dragons had a potential of the Grade S realm.

He guessed this Star Fox was his real reincarnation package.

In terms of pure strength, the Star Fox was not strong but it was already displaying its abilities by finding what he needed. The only current skill that the Star Fox had was the passive luck glow skill.

Others may look down on this passive skill but Legolas dared not, being a veteran of Dominator, he knew how OP the luck glow skill was.

The fact that the Star Fox already found the Nightmare Beast that he was after was enough to reveal a bit of its incredible luck.

With this, Legolas could officially start his beast contract trial. Before starting though, he bent down to look at the mischievous yellow fox.

"Since you're so lucky, your name will be Lucky".

-----

[Pet name has been registered: Lucky]

----

After naming the mischievous little Fox, Legolas finally calmed down and started communicating with it. Originally, on coming to the Nightmare Island, his greatest worry was braving the dangers of this island to find his target.

With Lucky now though, he no longer needed to come out of his cave, he could complete his beast contract trial directly inside the cave.

Legolas had to promise rewards to the fox before it agreed to communicate. After he found out the location of the young Nightmare Beast, he started planning extensively on how to take it down.

Unlike the other 2 main classes in Planet Narvis, the Elementalists and Pugilists, Summoners were the weakest superhumans at the starting stages.

Without a contracted beast, most Summoners were sitting ducks in battle.

As a Grade F Summoner, Legolas had no real offensive capabilities. His stats were also weak when compared to the superhumans of the other 2 classes. In the beginning stages, Summoners were required to rely on their head to get victories.

Legolas spent 10 minutes planning before he finally moved.

Deep inside the cave wandered a menacing beast.

This little Nightmare Beast got lost after wandering away from its parents. It was a little creature covered with scales, it had four legs with saber-like claws, a maw of sword-sized teeth, and two curving tusks which grew from its lower jaw.

Despite its small size at this moment which made it no bigger than a normal dog, the young Nightmare Beast was still able to evoke a menacing aura.

The young Nightmare Beast wandered aimlessly around the complicated cave as it constantly let out whimpers of frustration.

As it wandered, a pair of eyes watched it from the darkness.

"Lucky, wish me luck".

The Nightmare Beast's ears barely got time to stand to the sudden sound before the young beast felt the rapid movement in the air.

Legolas's plan was not complicated. Without any offensive skills, against this young Nightmare Beast in a head-on battle, he would 100% die.

This was why instead of fighting the beast head-on, Legolas rather decided to find a perfect ambush location and wait for the beast to wander there.

Once the beast wandered there, Legolas did not attack it, rather he just pounced on it and did what Summoners did best, contracting beasts.

Legolas timed his jump so well that the young Nightmare Beast was unable to react before his hand touched its head, then he activated his skill.

-----

You have activated skill: Beast Contract

----

The young Nightmare Beast lashed out instantly once a foreign hand touched its head, but it soon calmed as the effects of the Beast Contract took center stage.

A beast signing a contract with a summoner was similar to a human selling his soul to the devil. Once the contract was completed and signed, that beast instantly became the property of the summoner.

If the summoner died, the contracted beast would also die but if it was the other way around, the summoner would only receive some soul damage.

This was why beasts instinctively reacted aggressively to a beast contract.

The young Nightmare Beast was calm for less than 2 seconds before it lashed out again. There was a reason why summoners rarely had Nightmare Beasts as their contracted beasts, they were notorious for their stubbornness.

The Nightmare Beast moved very roughly but having anticipated it, Legolas managed to keep his hand on its head while he stabbed his sword through its leg.

The young beast growled in pain as it turned its menacing head to bite but mid-motion, its eyes suddenly turned white like it was dead.

Legolas's eyes also turned white.

When Legolas regained consciousness, he saw himself inside a world of white. In this white world, only he and the young Nightmare Beast were here.

This was the white contract world of Grade F summoners. This was where a summoner would subdue his target's will before signing the contract with it.

"Roar!!!"

The Nightmare Beast instantly roared in defiance.

Normal Grade F summoners who were new to the white world would fumble but not Legolas, he expertly took control and started mobilizing the powers of the white contract world to suppress the young Nightmare Beast.

The young beast roared again as it flexed its power, so there stood 2 foes, fighting for hours in a battle to sign one simple contract.

The Nightmare Beast's will though young was tenacious, it was able to hold on for 3 full hours before it finally succumbed to Legolas's will.

Legolas was horrified. "Such a tenacious beast!"

Even as he exclaimed, his actions did not pause as his illusory hand in this world touched the Nightmare Beast's head again. This time, a slip was attached to his hand and once he touched the beast's head, the slip sank in.

The Nightmare Beast briefly shuddered, then its eyes changed from their previous menacing red to blue. It bowed respectfully the next moment.

"Master!"

Legolas succeeded in getting his first contracted beast.

Once the contract process was over, the grey world shattered as both consciousnesses returned. They couldn't move nor even stand though; they were completely exhausted as they instantly fell asleep.

Just a few minutes after Legolas fell asleep, his consciousness left his body again as he saw himself back in the grey world of shadows.

This time, a table was already formed by the shadows and a letter was there.

"What letter is this?"
