Strongest Mystic

Chapter 2 Incident

Recalling the dream that seemed way too real, Ethan hurriedly asked the system to do something as he gazed at the nurse who had just entered the room.

[The heir only has one ability, Chronostasis, which allows him to stop time in a limited space. Do you want to use it?]

"Of course," Ethan replied, frustration clear in his voice.

[Affirmative.]

Ethan felt his energy being drained as the nurse approached him. She asked if he was okay and if he needed any assistance.

But before she could finish her sentence, time came to a halt and she froze in place. Ethan saw a timer counting down a minute on top of her head and realized that the Chronostasis ability only lasted for one minute.

Exhausted, Ethan laid back on his bed and stared at the ceiling, trying to make sense of everything that was happening. The system explained that the ability's duration would increase as Ethan's "heir" level increased, but Ethan couldn't wrap his head around the concept. He wondered if he was dreaming or if he had lost his mind after the accident.

This nurse had stabbed him in the dream… then was the current scenario also a dream?

Time was about to resume so he forced himself up in a sitting position. Just then he felt a slight pain in his groin region. His eyes widened again.

Just then the woman started moving again. She noticed that he was looking at her with a panicked expression. He had no choice but to ask for her help. To him getting stabbed looked better than this.

"Mr. Ethan, what's wrong?" she asked, moving quickly to his bedside.

Ethan didn't say anything, but his eyes darted down to the bed, where the end of the catheter was visible, the balloon deflated and the tubing slack. The nurse's heart sank as she realized that the catheter had become dislodged.

"Oh no, Mr. Ethan, please lie back down," she said, gently but firmly pushing him back onto the bed. "We need to get a new catheter in place as soon as possible to prevent any complications."

Ethan nodded and lay back down, grimacing at the pain. The nurse, Sasha, could see the distress and anxiety written all over his face, and she knew she had to act quickly to get him the help he needed.

Sasha grabbed the call button and pressed it urgently, summoning the doctor and any other necessary staff. Then she turned back to Ethan, taking his hand in hers and speaking in a calming voice.

"It's okay, Mr. Ethan, I'm here with you," she said. "We're going to get you a new catheter and make sure you're comfortable. Just try to relax and breathe through it."

Ethan nodded, taking slow, deep breaths as Sasha worked to insert the new catheter. It was a tube that was to be inserted in his bladder for him to urinate, just the thought made him feel weird.

The process wasn't easy, and there were a few moments of discomfort as the tube was inserted, but eventually it was in place and the drainage bag was attached.

"There we go, all done," Sasha said, giving Ethan a reassuring smile. "I know that wasn't easy, but you did great. Just try to relax now and let yourself heal."

Ethan had noticed her subtle actions—the way she bit her lip and an ambiguous glint in her eyes as she looked at him. Ethan couldn't blame her, as even he was pleasantly surprised to see that his member was even larger than it had been in his previous life.

Despite her unprofessional behavior, he didn't mind, as she had ultimately helped him out. He was also at fault for this incident.

Most importantly, this series of events had led him to the conclusion that he had indeed reincarnated. This was definitely reality.

"Can we talk for a while?" Ethan asked in a low voice.

Sasha smiled and nodded in understanding, pulling a stool over and sitting closer to him. Ethan noticed that there was a green number "10" floating above her head, but he assumed it was related to the system and chose to ignore it for now.

Ethan already knew the answer, but he asked, "What year is it?"

Sasha replied softly, "2222."

Ethan feigned sadness and closed his eyes, "So three years have passed."

Sasha placed a comforting hand on his and reassured him "True, this time won't come back but I know that you will be able to do great in the future. Your family and friends are with you."

Ethan opened his eyes and looked at Sasha, "And you?"

Sasha was surprised by the question, but she nodded and said, "I'll also be there for you."

Ethan deliberately paused for a few moments before apologizing, his voice soft as a mosquito. "I'm sorry, I got carried away. I just suddenly felt a sense of loneliness."

As expected, Sasha leaned closer to him, the fresh and lively scent of her perfume filled his senses and gave a better look to her bountiful chest. Ethan had a sudden desire to tightly squeeze them. It surprised him but he was able to control it.

Sasha smiled. "It's alright Mr. Ethan." and said in a half joking tone, "Well, we will be together until you have fully recovered."

Ethan turned his head and gazed outside as if yearning to go there. But then he started to feel that he had made it over dramatic so he went to the main point. He asked in an embarrassed voice, "When will that tube be removed?"

From the corner of his eyes, he glanced at her expression. Her countenance didn't change much but he could see her eyes darting off, as if hiding something. Guilt. He knew that she was feeling guilty. Though she didn't do anything, there was still a psychological pressure on her. Now knowing that she did feel this, Ethan decided to try and slowly seduce her until….

Unknown to his thoughts, She managed to collect herself and answered him, "Mr. Ethan, until the doctor says that your condition is stable, the catheter will not be removed. But don't worry, it won't take much time."

Ethan nodded and slowly closed his eyes while mumbling, "I just hope that they won't make you accountable for what happened."

As Ethan drifted off to sleep, he saw the number on top of her head increasing by one. He had a faint idea what this number was about.
