Terran Guardian

Chapter 14: Illusion.

Shen Changqing was not unfamiliar with the coldness.

He had already experienced this type of coldness in the Demon Suppression Prison.

The difference was that the coldness here was worse compared to one in the Demon Suppression Prison.

Though that's only from the perspective of Qi Circulation Realm Cultivators. As for those below it, there will be a small impact.

Looking sideways, he saw Zhang Long having a slightly pale face. Shen Changqing paused his steps.

"Constable Zhang might as well exit outside the village and wait. I can deal with the evil calamity here alone."

"I appreciate Lord Shen's advice, but I am responsible for the matter of monsters. How can I retreat? Besides, although the Ancient Moon Village is not large, it is not small either. If you want to find the exact location of the monster, you would need someone to guide the way."

Zhang Long shook his head and refused. Despite turning pale, he did not retreat even half a step.

Seeing this, Shen Changqing also did not pursue it.

As two walked inside the village, not knowing when, but the sunlight from above their heads gradually weakened. It was as if the entire village was shrouded in a layer of mist, completely isolated from the outside world.

There was no insect noise nor birds chirping.

Only the slight and delicate sound of footsteps, ringing in the ears.

Gradually, an invisible oppression came from all directions that aroused fear in people's hearts.

But that oppression was nothing much for Shen Changqing.

As a perennial patroller of the Demon Suppression Prison, he had seen many demons and monsters, having a great understanding of these evil spawns.

According to the information, the Ancient Moon Village's monster was only at the lowest level, Ghost Level. It was not even qualified to be held in the Demon Suppression Prison. It was simply not comparable to those powerful demons and monsters that Shen Changqing had met.

Even though the cells were equipped with sealing power, it was impossible to block all of the negative effects that these evil spawns bring.

Hence, Shen Changqing was already largely immune to the influence of demons and monsters.

Even if there was still a little influence, it wouldn't be too great.

For Zhang Long, although his face was a bit pale, his demeanor was still calm.

"Lord Shen, that house in front, that's where the monster is."

As he spoke, he was already pointing to a house in the village.

The house was made of green stone. Compared with the surrounding houses that were mud colored yellow, there was a stark difference.

"This family is quite rich, right?"

"This is the residence of the Ancient Moon Village's famous landowner. Unfortunately being rich doesn't matter, as he had already become a mummified corpse."

Zhang Long sighed. They were really powerless against these monsters.

Shen Changqing said, "And where is the body of the victim now?"

"Because it is an Evil calamity, we were worried that the corpses would have any changes, so after the coroner's examination, we immediately cremated the body. This is to cut off the possibility of the monsters harming the people by using the corpse."

"En."

Hearing Zhang Long's answer, Shen Changqing nodded.

This decision of the Lin'an City government office was appropriate.

Some powerful monster's power can awaken the corpses of the dead and use them to slaughter living beings, hence the means of cremating corpses was essential.

While conversing, the two have arrived in front of the green stone house.

Shen Changqing discovered the so-called house was actually closer to a mansion and it even had a courtyard with a large area. At this time, the courtyard door was locked, but he could feel an ominous atmosphere inside.

With a palm strike, Shen Changqing shattered the lock on the courtyard, then pushed the door straight open and walked in.

"Lord Shen has great Qi!"

Seeing that the other party had shattered the door lock with a single palm strike, Zhang Long's face changed slightly.

One must know that the door lock was made of pure iron, and it was not an easy thing to break using True Qi.

Since Shen Changqing was able to do this, his strength could be imagined.

As Zhang Long praised him, Shen Changqing had already stepped into the courtyard.

The already dim environment became even dimmer. Although it was not to the point of not being able to see your fingers, it was enough that you would not think that there was actually daylight outside.

There was an unknown tree planted in the courtyard. It had lush branches and leaves, but unfortunately, most of them had become yellow. When the courtyard door was pushed open, a weak wind blew past, causing some of the yellow leaves to fall down.

"Lord Shen, this owner was found dead inside the master bedroom, please follow me!"

Zhang Long's voice rang out from behind.

Immediately after that, he took the lead, walking in one of the directions of the courtyard.

Shen Changqing also followed behind Zhang Long.

The other party was obviously familiar with the courtyard, and it barely took them any time before they arrived in front of a closed door of a room.

"Lord Shen, this is where the monster first appeared."

Zhang Long pointed to the door, and his face became grave.

Hearing that, Shen Changqing kicked the door open, and a loud sound echoed in the silent atmosphere.

He took a step into the room and saw a bronze mirror.

In that instant, the scene around him suddenly changed.

The room was still the same room, but it had become dilapidated. As if no one had lived in this house for many years.

Shen Changqing looked back and Zhang Long had disappeared.

"Wuuu--"

A small sobbing sound sounded in his ears.

But soon, the sobbing sound disappeared, and instead a cheerful laughter replaced it.

Shen Changqing gaze fell in the courtyard and saw several black shadows. He could not see their specific appearance. They were running back and forth, chasing each other in the courtyard. From their form, they should be children playing with toys, as there was a round object that was being kicked around.

Suddenly, a child hit the ball too hard and it flew towards Shen Changqing.

Shen Changqing immediately drew his sword.

Cold light flashed and the ball split open.

Fresh blood splattered and the halves of the ball fell to the ground, it was actually a head!

The split head had its eyes wide and was staring at him.

Shen Changqing slowly walked to it and crushed half of the head with his foot, black blood seeped into the ground. His face turned gloomy, as he looked at the black shadows.

"Speaking of which, I've never fought a real monster before!"

"Let's see what kind of abilities you monsters have. If it's just a mere illusion, that would just be too disappointing–"

As Shen Changqing approached, cold light suddenly rose in the dim environment that seemed to tear everything apart.
