The Abandoned Hunter

Chapter 222: Rest Before A New Storm

Arcane began explaining everything about the grand festival.

The festival, which is nothing more than a battle occurring between various groups is primarily conducted by the dragons.

There are many other different types of races that are invited to participate in the said festival. Of course, it is like a life-death tournament with amazing rewards.

Since the dragons are the strongest beings after the Overlords, they are the ones that preside over this festival after all everyone believes that all the Overlords have vanished.

Weirdly enough, Jay, whom Akaluman gave a tiny portion of his power, awakened as the Dark Overlord. That was the case with many others as well.

This time, which was the first time that the dragons had chosen humans as their proxies, they could find the heirs of the Overlords.

The gifts or rewards that are bestowed were left by the previous Overlords. The dragons want to obtain them as well. They can barely fight because not only were their powers depleting but also they had made a pact among themselves.

After all, they didn't want their own race to go extinct completely.

The various races that got involved in the battles would earn various prizes from the dragons as well. They had an enormous amount of treasures since the dragons had lived the longest so it didn't matter to them to give away one or two treasures while getting some of the races on their side.

Also, the different races were eager to get the protection of a dragon - basically, dragons were treated to be equal to God!

In any case, after the fights between various different races would finish, it would be the dragons that would fight to earn the right of the dragon king.

Currently, there is none. They do have ranks such as rank 1 or rank 2, however, being rank 1 doesn't ensure the fact that one becomes a dragon king.

Being rank 1 does give benefits such as gaining power from the remaining world source or some Supreme Being and that would push them forward – helping them get closer to the goal of becoming the true dragon king.

Arcane explained all these to Jay and he listened calmly.

'I see, so that's why the dragons fight and that's why all the races are wanting to take part in this festival despite the fact that they might get killed.'

'They would do anything to gain the protection of the dragons…'

'Interesting…'

'Also, I will be able to see other humans that are chosen as the proxies of other dragons.', Jay sighed.

He knew that there was a big game that was soon to occur. This event would definitely affect his life in some or the another way.

'I wonder what benefit would the proxies get after winning the battle…' – this was something Jay wasn't aware of.

He did know that the dragons could give gifts, but to someone as lowly as humans, would they really bother sharing their treasures?

Wouldn't it be easier and much more enjoyable to just kill those humans?

Jay sure had interesting thoughts, but he wasn't sure if they were true.

'I should exit this place and meet Akaluman as soon as possible…'

Jay asked Arcane to show the place via which he could exit the Nether Realm.

"Master, I think, you can just teleport out of this place.", Arcane bowed and answered.

"Teleport?"

He did receive some weird skills from the scroll, but there was no mention of teleport.

"Yes, master."

"You are the head of the Nether Realm. Your words are nothing more than commands to us. The same is for the realm. You can just imagine exiting this place and the natural power in this realm will help you in accomplishing that."

It sounded way more interesting and helpful.

But Jay wasn't sure to use such a method because he knew not of a way to get back to this place if needed.

"So, if I want, can I teleport back here?", he asked.

"Of course, you can, Master.", he said humbly.

"Alright then, let me give it a try."

He closed his eyes and tried imagining himself teleporting out of the Nether Realm and as soon as he did that, he was out of the place.

The moment he opened his eyes, he was levitating high in the air, near the clouds while the city was just under him.

"Paris?"

He could easily tell that he was in Paris because of the large Eiffel tower which was decorated with lights. There were tons of people in the tower as well as walking close to it.

'I really am back.', his eyes glittered when he thought that.

Of course, he wanted to check if he would enter the Nether Realm just by thinking, and as soon as he tried, he was back in an instant.

"We welcome you, master.", the three demon generals and Arcane bowed in front of Jay.

It was as if they came to know that he was entering the realm.

When Jay left, all of a sudden, his presence vanished. The demon generals rushed towards the last place where they had felt his presence only to find him returning.

Upon his return, they would surely bow. After all, he was their ruler right now.

"Wow, this does work!", he smiled and then after a few minutes, vanished yet again while leaving the working of the realm and everything to the demon generals.

This time, he imagined returning to his home nation – Korea. (No offense, I love Korea due to which I chose this country.)

'I can't believe it is so easy to travel between the realms.'

He thought about this as he slowly landed on the rooftop of his apartment.

He wanted to know about all the damages that Arcane's rival demon might have caused on Earth so he immediately switched on his phone and started looking for some news.

'Nothing?'

'There has been no destruction at all…'

Jay had gotten awfully powerful. Although he is stuck at the same level for quite some time, his threshold just kept growing in the Nether Realm.

Not only that, he is back with different power – the demon mode. Also, the scroll, which was granted to him, forms a basis for some new power.

Although he did gain something, he has to lose something really valuable – the system.

He had been with the system for quite a long time, it was thanks to the system that he was able to come this far. But of course, for every good thing, there is an end.

According to the Dark Overlord's words in the scroll, the system that had been helping him has to go in order for him to grow stronger.

Currently, the system did not have many things that it could do for Jay after all the system was also created by someone, and that certain person, wasn't the strongest and didn't have infinite energy and resources to help Jay continuously get stronger.

'But how did the Dark Overlord know that I would gain the system?' – this was something important to think about.

It was almost as if the Dark Overlord has seen the future.

'Or maybe not, it might have been that he had left some portion of his soul to interact with me and just coincidentally detected the system…' – he was somewhat wrong since the Dark Overlord specifically mentioned about the system and the beings that made it.

"Hmm, for now, I have three goals in my mind."

"Use the system for the last time, meet Akaluman and discuss regarding the festival and participate in the proxy's battle!"

He seemed proud for some reason since he could narrow down his goals to only three things. He had been quite undecisive tons of times so this was a good start.

"Ah…"

"Wait a damn minute…"

"I have to find the truth about father and sister and the guild too…"

"Also, I need to figure out the scroll that I received and the remaining two symbols."

'Man…'

'I just cannot narrow it down to a few goals.'

Right after that, he thought about getting inside his home and resting for a while with his family before leaving for a big moment.

Many things happened in this short while. Many people knew about his secret – the system.

He became the Dark Overlord and earned a lot of his powers. A lot of skills were given to him out of which, some were directly inherited from the Dark Overlord.

In any case, right now, probably it was the only moment where he could rest because a bigger storm was soon to come.

Though, he wouldn't have to worry much about his family's safety because he could always transport them to the Nether Realm where the Demon Generals would do a pretty good job in keeping them safe.

As for the vampires, wolfy, and Akaluman, Jay was ready to help them or let them help him any time.
