The Birth Of A Villainess

Chapter 2 - Begin Again

"No…"

"No, I'm begging you please don't do this!"

"Please!"

Behind the closed door of the inner quarter of a large courtyard, a figure was curled on the bed, trembling and beads of sweat were forming on her forehead.

The two maids beside the bed frantically went to and fro the room with a basin of water and towel.

"Not good. The fever won't go down." One of the maids said worriedly.

"What should we do? The snowstorm is too strong and the family's doctor won't even dare go out of his house with this weather." The other maid said before pausing and continued, "But is Young Miss awake? She's been mumbling something under her breath."

The first maid shook her head and said, "How can one be awake with this high fever? She must be feeling too much pain.."

The two of them continued their job, wiping the sweat on their young miss forehead, wringing the water out of the towel and repeating this action several times.

After a few minutes, the trembling figure of their young miss on the bed suddenly stopped. Her eyes that were tightly closed earlier were now wide open, staring blankly in front but the cold flash in it wasn't concealed.

She twisted her head to look at the two maids speaking and her mouth was agape before sour tears suddenly pooled in her eyes as she continued to look.

When the two maids saw the tears in their young miss' eyes, they were stunned, and immediately they stood by her side.

"Is young miss alright?"

"This servant will go out and tell the Old Master that young miss is finally awake!" The other maid said as she hurriedly left to do what she said.

Xiaofei continued to cry once she opened her eyes. She didn't know why but as soon as her eyes laid on a different place from her dirty and smelly prison, the feeling of being wronged for a lifetime and the pain she bottled up in her heart was suddenly bursting out.

The room she was in was completely different from the prison since inside this room, everything was of good quality. It was clean and warm.

And the voice of someone other than those evil people was heard through her ears she suddenly couldn't stop bawling loudly and reached out to the hands that were outstretched to her.

Lu Yi, the maid was completely shocked seeing her young miss crying like a child who fell getting her knees scraped. She'd never seen her young miss like this as if the world had wronged her. She looked at the delicate and small hands holding her.

Strangely, Lu Yi felt like she was about to cry too and sniffed. She was getting afraid that something might happen to their young miss. She's also worried that after this, her young miss would punish her for touching her but was relieved that she saw her stubborn and spoiled young miss acting differently.

However, it didn't occur to her that her real young miss was already gone because of the high fever. What was inside that body was a another girl, no a woman. And was indeed wronged by everyone and the Heavens.

Xiaofei continued bawling till her head hurts and hands trembling. She didn't know where she was but, now that she died, she assumed that she was in the afterlife and somewhere safe.

'Bang!'

The door to the room was harshly opened as a valiant and scary-looking old man clad in fine clothes entered and the scene in the room was played on his eyes.

His eyes widened at this scene but seeing his granddaughter bawling like a child pierced through his heart and kneeled beside the bed and looked at his granddaughter dotingly.

"Fei'er. What's wrong? Tell grandfather what's hurting you, I'll personally get the family doctor." Lin Xiaomeng said worriedly, his face was full of concern.

However, because his face looked so fearsome with a big scary scar on his right cheek, it looked horrifying and anyone would flinch when they saw him. His granddaughter, however, didn't get scared and continued to cry like the usual, she continued to cry as if she didn't care about anything.

This made Lin Xiaomeng feel extremely helpless.

Right now, he was kneeling in front of a young girl in the age between sixteen and seventeen, not minding the shock looks he gained from the several servants who came with him and stood inside the room.

They knew how Lin Xiaomeng doted on his granddaughter but this scene in front of them still gave them a shock.

Who was Lin Xiaomeng?

He was the famous Great General of the Zheng empire and because of that, he has both money and fame. He had only retired and given up his military tally 2 years ago, but still his influence in the imperial court was great. Even the Royal Family highly respects him.

And yes, he bends every rule engraved in his bones for this young girl in front of him.

"Someone, come! Go to Doctor Feng and tell him to hurry and check on my little girl." He said with urgency.

"But Master, Doctor Feng had just left a few hours ago and the snowstorm is too strong and might have already buried the road. It would be difficult for the horse carriage or even a person to walk in this weather." Head Servant An Li informed his master.

The snowstorm tonight was too strong and one would doubt that anyone would be brave enough to go against it. Even those military soldiers would shiver in cold and would die before even slashing their enemies.

Lin Xiaomeng knew the worries of the head servant but he was also very worried about the condition of his granddaughter.

However, he couldn't possibly force his way in when the storm was like this. Even if he successfully sent someone to get Doctor Feng, who knew if both the person he sent and Doctor Feng would freeze to death on the road.

Sighing, Lin Xiaomeng nodded his head and said, "You all go out. I'll accompany Fei'er."

The servants inside the room disperse as soon as they got the order and closed the door. Lin Xiaomeng sat on the edge of the bed beside his granddaughter, putting her head on his shoulder.

"Shh, it's alright. Grandfather's here. I'm here."
