The Charming Villain Just Wants To Be A Salted Fish

Chapter 3.1 - The Third Night Part 1

The Third Night Part 1

She opened her lips and moved the exposed sharp teeth closer to his neck…

Joyce did not eat dinner, and her stomach was empty at this moment. This extraordinarily sweet blood had gradually engulfed her sense of reason, and now she just wanted to cut through the exquisite flesh and taste the sweetness of the blood under the skin.

But just as she was about to bite Sean's neck, he put his hand out and pressed it against her forehead.

Joyce froze. ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ

Once again, she lost her control because of this knight's blood.

Just as she was about to say something to hide her embarrassment, Sean calmly asked, “You’re unable to restrain your craving for blood. Isn’t that a low-level mistake made by newly transformed vampires?”

“…” As soon as Joyce's movements became stiff, the face that she felt was so handsome, to the point where it could make all humans and gods resentful, suddenly became less appetizing. She distanced herself from him. “Says who? I just didn’t eat yet. There was an apple suddenly in front of me… and everyone will take a bite, okay?”

“…”

The “apple” that was nearly bitten coldly looked away. He did not lie down to rest, but quietly sat on the sofa.

Joyce went back to sitting on the bed and stared at the motionless person sitting on the sofa.

As if he sensed her staring, Sean withdrew his gaze on the window and stared into her eyes without any hesitation. Joyce did not expect him to look at her so calmly that she gave him a firm stare for a moment and refused to look away.

They looked at each other in the room sprinkled with moonlight until—

They were interrupted by two shallow “rumbles”.

“…” Sean looked away deliberately.

“Little knight, I heard your stomach rumbling,” Joyce said in surprise without having the slightest awareness that it was her own belly rumbling merrily just now.

Joyce saw that Sean ignored her. She thought for a moment, then smiled and said, “I found some fruit trees around the castle a while ago. Let's go and pick fruits.”

Sean declined to comment. Upon hearing her words, he turned his eyes back to her again.

Joyce didn't care. She went to the window and pushed the old-fashioned window open. Her eyes were pleasantly surprised and shining. “There it is!”

The people in the carriage and the people in the other rooms became paralyzed. At this moment, in order to get some wild fruits outside of the ancient castle, Joyce looked around the room and took the sheets on the bed and on the sofa Sean was sitting on and tied them up together.

“What are you doing?” Sean faintly asked her and stood up when she started moving around.

“I’m going to steal… pick some fruit,” she said as she finished tying one side of the sheets to the foot of the bed. After repeatedly confirming the safety of the knots, she carefully threw the entire string of sheets down the window.

She looked out of the window. Then, she looked back and asked the person behind her, “You go first?”

Sean frowned as he looked at the long string of sheets and turned his eyes back to Joyce in doubt.

“Do what?”

“Go down with this!” Joyce replied. She took the string of sheets back up and gave the tied end to Sean. “Take this and go down first.”

Sean looked at the tall grass under the window and then looked at her. “Aren't you afraid I'll run away?”

Joyce was surprised.

She thought that since she didn’t understand the strength of the vampires, she and the knight had to use the sheets to escape through the window. However, she had no idea what to do if the knight went down first and ran away.

“Then I’ll just catch you again and bring you back like a strong bandit leader’s wife1.” She shrugged and smiled. Then she pushed him and motioned for him to move faster. “If you run away, then they will probably try to catch the princess again. You might as well stay here for a few days.”

Sean took the sheet knot from her hand and silently jumped down from the window with the sheets.

Joyce covered up the low cry that she almost blurted out. She looked down the window and saw Sean standing steadily on the grass under the window, so she breathed a sigh of relief and pulled the sheets back and fastened them around herself.

She carefully stepped over the window frame, fidgeting with the sheets and stepped down on the wall below her.

After becoming a vampire, everything felt unreal and unfamiliar to her. However, the only advantage to becoming a vampire seemed to be that her strength and speed, and even her sense of sight and smell, increased a lot. Right now, it didn’t take a lot of effort to climb down the wall.

As she was thinking of this, her hands grabbed the sheet with a bit of her strength to try and continue going down. However, the sheet suddenly broke in her hands due to the excessive force. She shrieked as she began to fall straight down from her spot—

On the grass under the window, Sean was looking up at her falling from above.

“Ah! Catch me!”

Joyce screamed and held out her hands to him, but Sean looked at the scene indifferently as she was about to fall into his arms…. and took a step back.

Joyce took a heavy fall onto the grass. She looked up and stared in disbelief at Sean.

“There are only four floors.” Sean looked at her with puzzled eyes. “Are vampires that stupid now?” ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ

  1. 压寨夫人 (yāzhàifūrén) – It’s from a story where this phrase is a means to measure the ‘strength’ of a village. If the leader does not marry a wife, then it means his village is too poor or easily conquered.
