The Charming Villain Just Wants To Be A Salted Fish

Chapter 9.2 - The Ninth Night Part 2

The Ninth Night Part 2

“I told you we should have moved away earlier! How many times has it been? These vampires have really gone too far!”

“It's really terrifying here! I don't want to stay here any longer!”

This was a closed off pigsty, but now it was surrounded by people. Their faces were filled with fear and anger. A farmer with a serious expression was facing the crowd.

“I have already discussed this with Long Aotian. He said vampires were not allowed to come out to hunt a long time ago,” Joyce murmured under her breath.

Sean did not speak, and his eyes glanced at the dead body being carried by a stretcher.

But Joyce turned her eyes to look at the farmer and wondered in a low voice, “I always thought he looked familiar…”

“This…” Seeing that the farmer was silent, a woman who had lived on the farm for many years spoke up in a worried voice, “I think it’s better if we move out as soon as possible. We are no different from these pigs and sheep to those vampires. Today, these four people…”

“I know.” The farmer, who had been silent for a long time, stated, “Let’s deal with this first. It's getting late, we should all go to bed early. As for moving away… I'll think about it again.”

Although the people on the farm were scared and had complaints about the decision, they could only sigh and follow the instructions to carry away the dead bodies of their companions.

Sean watched as the crowd of people dispersed, and quietly followed.

The four bodies were temporarily placed in an empty shack. Sean went in silently. As soon as he reached one of the bodies, the cat in his arms jumped out and sniffed the wound near the body's neck.

She had a strange feeling.

Although she still had a strong reaction to an excessive amount of blood after drinking Sean's blood, she could not feel an attraction to the blood she was currently faced with.

It looked like she had made rapid progress.

It shouldn't be long before she didn’t have to reveal her true nature as a vampire because of her reaction to the scent of blood. With this view, she could not help but approach the dead bodies in somewhat high spirits.

Sean thought she was craving for blood again and reached out to pull her back.

Joyce was already approaching the wound. Just when she wanted to take a closer look at the wound, she was grabbed by the person behind her. She immediately expressed impatience and struggled. “What are you doing? Let me go!”

Sean frowned slightly and held out his wrist. “Drink mine.”

“…” It was then that Joyce realized that Sean thought she wanted to drink the blood of these corpses. Speechless, she rolled her eyes. “Who would want to drink their blood? I want to check their wounds.”

Sean looked at her with skepticism but still put her down.

Under his suspicious gaze, Joyce looked up and purred in dissatisfaction as she approached the wound on the corpse again.

“There's something strange about this wound…”

The wound marks seemed to have been from two fang piercings. There was a bit of blood oozing along it. Joyce examined the blood from the wound and moved closer to sniff it.

“I don't think this was done by a vampire from the castle. Long Aotian is not very reliable, but he knows how to manage the vampires. And he has said before that they would not leave a mark like this.” Joyce took another look at the wound and said to herself, “I didn't expect this to be a mystery manga…”

“Huh?”

“Oh, nothing.” Joyce returned to reality but continued to let out a sigh on the inside. These strange events linked together would create a clue. Then, the male lead and the female lead’s mission would be to follow this lead to find the truth to the situation and solve the mystery.

It was a good idea to make sure that they were not in danger for the time being. As for everyone else, it was obvious that they were not someone she should be worried about.

Sean looked at the blood that remained around the wound and then at the other bodies. As he expected, there was blood oozing from each body's wound.

He frowned slightly, and his eyes looked back at the cat. “What do you think?”

When Sean asked her the question, her lips twitched before she replied with, “Let's not worry about it. Such a major event would obviously be a part of the plot that the male lead needs to check. We should eat, drink and stay away from things that are suspicious.”

“Male lead?” Sean frowned slightly again. He was puzzled by her strange words that felt like it had come out of nowhere again.

“It's all right. Didn’t they say they would report this before they left just now? If it’s like that, then your mighty king will get to the bottom of it.” Joyce lowered her head slightly and thought about another thing. “Now that something like this has happened, how can we ask the people on the farm to come to the castle for help? There’s a strong possibility that they won’t come when they hear it’s the castle.”

It was the first time Sean had heard something from her regarding the “King” that was not a complaint. Since he couldn’t consider it a praise, Sean happened to raise an eyebrow with his slight frown.

“It'll be simple. If worse comes to worst, you can tie them up and bring them to the castle. After they finish teaching the vampires, I'll erase their memories of the day.”

Joyce's eyes brightened at that. She was even more curious about the School of Magic. But before she could speak, Sean asked another question, “But since it was a vampire who committed this… aren’t you afraid that the king's investigation will lead to you?”

Joyce was dumbfounded by his words.

She suddenly realized that although she did not kidnap the princess and had succeeded in being a salted fish by her quick wittedness, if the powers of the manga plot was irreversible… then wouldn’t she still be drawn into the conflict because of this incident with the dead bodies? …and end up being destroyed by that Great Demon Dragon?

When Joyce thought of this, she was rooted to the spot.

She needed to speed things up and get the vampires to learn practical skills to survive… In this way, she could escape from everyone as soon as possible, so that she could acquire her own survival skills…

Sean's eyes were always on her. The cat's expressions were probably so revealing that he unconsciously smiled and questioned, “Don't you believe the king will investigate this matter clearly?”

“That's true, but…” Joyce looked up and her eyes paused for a moment when she looked at Sean.

He’s so handsome and rich, he also tastes so delicious when I can take a few bites… Can I take him with me?

With these thoughts and without realizing it, Joyce whispered, “Little knight, if I keep cooking delicious food for you, then… would you like to run away with me?”
