The Magic Apprentice: My Cells Have Mutated

Chapter 26 - A Mysterious Mage Appears!

“Why don’t we retreat first? Your injuries are too serious.” Jack frowned.

He saw the wounds on Roosevelt’s arms. They looked extremely terrifying. If he did not treat the injuries immediately, they might leave behind permanent disabilities.

“I’m fine.” Roosevelt shook his head.

Although he said this, he was very clear about the condition of his body. His two arms were feeling heavier and heavier. The enemy’s corrosiveness had already penetrated deep into his bones.

If not for his strong physique as a close combat mage, his arms would have been crippled by now.

“Retreating doesn’t seem that easy too.” Roosevelt squinted and shook his head.

He turned to look at the streamers behind him.

Although he was not a regular viewer of live broadcasts, he knew that these people with millions of fans had a lot of influence.

And of course, these were several lives.

The goal of the Magical Investigation Unit was to protect ordinary people.

How could he escape now?

“Leave them.” Jack tugged at Roosevelt’s sleeve.

“These are just a few fellows who were asking for you. If you continue, your two arms might get crippled, and we won’t even be able to escape!”

“If you die, your Magical Investigation Unit will have no captain left. The entire San Francisco city will be under the threat of demonic creatures.”

“Think about it. This great demonic creature has just broken through. It has to stay in the dormitory building for now. This is our opportunity, tomorrow, the Great Mage from the Magic Investigation Bureau will come over. We’ll be saved then!”

“We can’t hesitate now! We have to make a choice!”

“Are we going to let them die here, or are we going to put the entire San Francisco in danger for them?” Jack roared.

He was very anxious and had to convince Roosevelt.

“Is it worth the loss for these people? Don’t hesitate, Roosevelt!”

Roosevelt stood there with a pained expression. Finally, he took a deep breath.

He made up his mind.

“Let’s retreat.”

“Retreat!”

At this moment, there was no room for hesitation.

This great demonic creature could launch a new attack at any time.

The two of them ran toward the staircase together. The injured Roosevelt led the way, while Jack covered the rear.

A large group of spirits surrounded him and let out strange growls.

“I’ll stop them!”

Jack blocked the stairway and waved his staff. A stream of water appeared in front of him, blocking all the spirits.

As a Water Mage, he was not good at fighting head-on, but he had strong control abilities.

“Water Surge!” Jack shouted.

This wave was like a tsunami that surged through the floor and swept away all the spirits that touched it.

But there were also a number of spirits coming from the stairwell, and they were still increasing in numbers. More and more spirits surrounded them.

Roosevelt had an anguished expression, the pain from his arms made him feel a little dizzy.

Unlike other mages, he relied solely on his hands to attack as a close combat mage.

At this moment, both of his hands were crippled and he had lost all his fighting strength.

Even three or four demonic clones would be enough to kill him.

“Jump down from the window!”

This was a dormitory building, so it was not very tall.

Even when they were at the top floor, it was only the sixth floor.

At a height of 20 meters, as long as he used his magic power to lift himself up when he fell, he would not die when he fell to the ground. At worst, he would be disabled.

Compared to death, disability was a good result.

Roosevelt gritted his teeth and dashed to the window.

But the dark demonic energy swept over and made the windows disappear magically. Jack and Roosevelt were completely trapped in the corridor now.

“We are… screwed,” Roosevelt said helplessly, licking his lips.

Surrounded by so many spirits, there was no way to escape.

Just as he was about to lose all hope, a violent fire wolf surged out from the bottom of the stairs and instantly drowned all the spirits.

There was a wave of crackling sounds.

All these spirits turned into ashes in the flames and scattered on the ground.

Seeing this, Jack and Roosevelt were stunned. They had no idea what had happened.

Soon, a man whose face was shrouded in flames slowly walked up from downstairs.

The flames on his body emanated a violent, hot, and powerful aura.

When they saw this person, Jack and Roosevelt’s expressions changed.

They could sense that this was a true expert!

He was a top-notch expert that was rarely seen even for people of their level!

Jack crept closer to Roosevelt’s ear and whispered, “Is this expert part of your Magical Investigation Unit in San Francisco?”

Captain Roosevelt shook his head.

Jack asked again, “Is that your friend? Or an expert sent by the Magic Investigation Bureau?”

Roosevelt shook his head again and said in a daze, “It’s a mysterious mage of unknown origin. Until now, he has not revealed his true identity.”

“Mysterious mage?” Jack’s eyes widened in surprise.

“The video from the chip factory yesterday has gone viral online. You should have seen it.”

Jack nodded.

Roosevelt continued, “The person who created the flaming tornado in the video is him! His name is Apollo!”

Jack gulped upon hearing that.

He turned his head and looked at Chu He, who was covered in flames, feeling extremely shocked.
