Chapter 15 for a happier life

Chapter 15 for a happier life

"As I was saying, Uncle Fred -- I truly apologize for my immature act from the past." Morris flat and inexpressive tone can make one twitch because he was obviously insincere with all the words he spats. He resumed,

"I'll stop putting pressure on your company and hope that you can forgive me."

"Don't worry, Morris. It's our fault in the first place to let Lexi interfere with your affairs." Father Yang's jaw tightens before he answers Morris implying that he is not the one to blame.

After the pleasantries and the forgiven act, Frederick Yang ordered Lexi who was keeping her silence since the beginning to send Morris off.

---

Outside the Yang family mansion; driveway

Lexi's shoulder was tensed as her hands were clenched into a fist. Earlier, Morris was obviously flaunting his power in front of her. Though she must be glad that he lifted his verdict towards her family business, alas, Lexi's heart tightens seeing her father swallow his pride and let Morris trample his dignity as the man of the house.

Following Morris from behind, Lexi can't contain her emotions any longer. She raised her head as tears started to form on the corner of her eyes yet, with Lexi's great resistant, it won't fall off -- no matter what.

"Do you really have to do it?"

"Do what?" Morris Liu turns to face Lexi's aggravate expression. He arcs his brows as he feigns his innocence. He continued, "Miss Yang, you knelt down to me earlier, begging me to stop targetting your company -- so I did. Don't tell me, I also need to stoop so low to ask for forgiveness to the parents who almost ruined my life?"

"Ruined your life? What do you think you did to me?"

"I returned the favor." Morris coldly response without any guilt in his eyes. Examining her proud yet on the verge of crying expression, Morris turns around in annoyance. He added,

"Your offer earlier -- I'm looking forward to it." and the Morris entered on the back seat of the car before it sped away.

Lexi was rooted on the ground hearing his last remarks. So, Morris acted as if he forgive and wanted to start over with her family but actually, his real intention and the root cause of changing his mind is because of the offer she gave about arranging a meeting with Mr. Tanaka.

When Morris car is nowhere to be seen, the tears that Lexi was holding back finally set free as it taints her cheeks. Whether its the fact that Lexi witnessed her father to bootlick Morris or how Morris bullies her to his heart's content -- she felt pained and burden.

"Don't cry, chu." Churu attempts to console her with her cute high-pitched voice. Alas, her words were left shun as Lexi hangs her head low -- wiping her tears.

After some time, Lexi finally calms herself and stops her now puffy eyes from producing salt liquids. Raising her head, Lexi peered at the mansion's enormous gate.

"Churu, why is it so hard to forget someone even though he hurts and only causes you pain and misery?"

"Don't worry, chu. You'll get over that bastard! He doesn't deserve you, chu!" Churu responded still infuriated at Morris cold and harsh treatment.

"Why do you think he doesn't deserve me?"

"You are pretty, chu -- just like me! Smart and elegant, chu~!" Churu showered Lexi with compliments to make her feel better, at least.

Lexi slightly giggles by how obvious Churu's gesture and words. Lexi then pats Churu's head as her usual sharp gaze softens. "It's good to have you with me." before Lexi knew it, her words left her mouth.

Churu slightly flushed in happiness feeling that Lexi was slightly showing her affection towards the little dumpling. "Hehe. and the system, chu! Let's have a happy life from now on, chu!"

"Hmm."

"And meet a lot of great guys!" Churu added, being carried away with the topic.

'No, no more 'guys', for now. Let's focus on Mr. Initial Task.' Lexi replied inwardly as she made her way inside their house.

"Yes, chu~! For a happier life!"

'For a happier life... ' Lexi repeated -- setting her mindset to find her own happiness and would only focus on the people that care for her and not someone like Morris who won't see her worth. Finally, Lexi wanted to set herself free from the chains of the unrequited love she has for Morris and just live a better and happier life.
